Tentrr is your private camping experience. We connect adventurers like you with private landowners who want to share their land so you can experience new places.
“Just being on the island of North Haven gets 5 starts. View from the property is spectacular. And the property itself is stunning farm/pasture land. Saw all sorts of large and small birds. Seals swimming and making calls right in the bay (bring binoculars). Also saw a pig, deer and rabbits.
For your stay expect a tentr tent, fire pit w wood provided, picnic table and a good clean outhouse. Bring any type of mattress or padding for sleeping on (beds are stiff) and a space heater for cooler nights. Bring all kitchen stuff — remember your tenting.
The manager was great. Helped us get settled very easily.
A side note:
Took a two hour ride with Captain Oakley who runs Osprey Adventures. Was an awesome tour. Pulled a lobster trap which was cool to see. Saw incredible sights both of the island and of wild life. Oakley also let my kids jump off the boat— was something they will never forget.
Thank you Benjamin. We were thrilled to be on Turner Farm!!
Ps bring a shade umbrella and sunscreen”
“The location is beautiful but there are some serious mismatches between the listing and the actual property. There is no wood stove and there is also no stove in general, despite the photos showing a wood stove and the listing saying there would be a stove. I appreciate a rustic tent but it’s very difficult to plan a trip without the proper information. We also received no info for check-in and couldn’t reach anyone at the site so we drove around for a while before eventually hearing back. This place has so much potential but many corners were cut that greatly detracted from the experience. Also, one of my pillows didn’t have a pillowcase and it was very stained…
Overall, has great potential but not worth the money unless they get their act together.”
Hey there Alan, thanks for the feedback here! Without honest reviews like yours, we wouldn't know where to improve. Since you posted this review, we have gotten in touch with the host at this site. We talked about your less-than-ideal stay at their tent. We are working on getting the site fixed up for future campers. And again, thank you for your honesty here!
Best,
The Tentrr Team
“We had a gorgeous stay at Tentrr's site on North Haven. The location can't be beaten! Tentrr's listing could have used an update, as we felt it wasn't 100% accurate. There was a wood stove inside the tent in their listing photos, as well as what looked like a cooking pot/water heater with mention of a stove in the description; neither were present for our stay. We owe a huge thanks to the Turner Farm staff and Benjamin, who graciously helped us out when we found ourselves with a broken bike and no other means of transportation on the island! A special little spot and a true community of salt-of-the-earth folks.”
“Spacious accommodation with a beautiful view in a private location. Our two pups loved being able to roam free. A wonderful experience except for the extremely uncomfortable futon mattress. Be sure to bring enough water for your visit. Nonetheless, highly recommend!”
“This was such a cute little tent and just an amazing adventure in general. I don't think I've ever seen a night sky so beautiful in my life. This is definitely on the rustic side of the Airbnb spectrum, so it's perfect for those who love the outdoors and camping.
Here are some helpful things to pack: water, a lighter, a headlamp/lantern, and warm blankets (if you're staying in colder months)”
“This is such a beautiful property, the views, the ocean, the farm was just an amazing experience. I highly suggest lining your stay up with one of their famous Barn Suppers! This tent is more like camping less like “glamping”. It’s simple and serene. There is a jug of water there but I suggest bringing more. Fire wood is provided. The beach was a short walk and had breath taking views of the islands, light house and lobster boats, quintessential Maine at its finest. The farm stand had produce, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and local meats open from 9-1 Tuesday-Saturday.
Another note: Turner farm is located 3 miles away from the ferry. Be sure to set up transport to and from the farm. It was a little hard reaching our camp keeper because of the very busy high season, we ended up hitching a ride with some locals ( who were the nicest people on earth ). If you’re planning on taking a car over be sure to reserve your spot exactly 1 month in advance, to and from the island.”
