“We couldn't find a place that had Friday thru Sunday open in downtown Staunton. We booked a place downtown for Saturday & Sunday and then went looking for a place for Friday. We are campers and decided to take a chance on this Tentrr site just outside of Staunton. We were very impressed. This was about as far from "roughing it" you could get and still have a primitive camping experience. A comfy queen bed in a huge, high quality tent. Everything was provided. Everything. Even a small heater for the tent. The biggest hassle when camping is having to bring everything with you. The only thing we had to bring was food. The site was beautiful. It is in the country on a cattle farm situated on a secluded plot that was next to a stream. The fall colors and quiet area made for a relaxing stay. The host, James, and his wife were very helpful, super nice, and very accommodating. They told us we were allowed to walk the farm, of which we took full advantage. We will stay again.”
“For primitive tent camping, this place was more than what we expected. There was a propane heater to keep you warm and toasty at night. There's room on the site for at least two more tents and four more people -you just need to let them know that when you're booking and provide your own linens, tent, etc. There was one extra tent under the bed as well as a pop-up Coleman shower to use if you were staying more than a night or two ...Plenty of extra blankets... Really the owners thought of everything that you could possibly need -bug spray, toiletries, sani wipes, air freshener, skillets for the provided Coleman stove ,plenty of firewood for the fire pit, 5 gallon jug of potable water for washing hands, dishes, etc. as well as a separate jug for drinking water...just an all-around peaceful stay on a farm surrounded by beautiful mountain side. Only piece of advice was to watch out for the falling walnuts in the autumn season-other than that 10/10 recommend!”
“We had a wonderful stay- memorable and wanted to stay longer ! The host, “Farmer James” we called him :) was very welcoming and helpful. He is clearly a hard worker and has put a lot of time and thought into making this Tentrr site on his farm enjoyable for all. The gently rolling river beside the site also cannot be beat. Excited to return !”
“What a special find this place, beautiful location, lots of space and mostly private. Very well stocked campsite too, bed linens were provided as well as two Coleman lanterns on the bedside tables, it’s a real mattress (not an air mattress) and very comfortable. Platform the tent sits on is screened from the bottom so truly a creature free sleeping experience. We enjoyed the quiet peace sitting down by the water during the afternoon and a great campfire in the evening. Our only regret was only booking one night! We look forward to going back.”
“This is a unique and special Tentrr location! If you are in this area, it is an exceptional place to stay. The combination of woods, river, and farm could not be more beautiful. Caught fish in the river, loved the visit from a heard of deer, easy location to explore Shenandoah region. Hosts were great! Everything you need at the campsite and more.”
“I wish I could give more than 5 stars! James and his family were so warm and welcoming. The site was super clean and it was nice to explore the farm. There is nothing that they did not think of! If you forget anything, it’s guaranteed they have not forgotten and it’s provided. It was nice to have have a little potty in the tent at night. That made it super convenient. It was nice to sit by the fire, swing on the swing by the river, relax in the chairs outside the tent. On Saturday we went into town and walked around the local farmer’s market, antique shops, visited Ciders from Mars, and had lunch at the Bistro. We returned to the campsite and floated in the river on the tubes provided. The whole visit was super relaxing and enjoyable! We definitely will return!”
“All 5 of us ladies loved every second of our two night weekend getaway at Honeysuckle Hideaway. We ventured out to Staunton (15 min away) on Friday night for cider, live music, and a great meal. We walked the farm path on Saturday morning. During the day, we kayaked from the site 9.3 miles to Verona. The water was low so we walked our kayaks on several portions but we had a blast anyway. Even when it downpoured, we were dry and cozy in the sweet TentRR tent. James was most accomodating when he asked if we wanted to stay late on Sunday due to the heavy rain on Sat night to get the most of our stay. The site was well stocked, even had pans that we didn't pack. EXCELLENT PROPERTY, EXCELLENT WEEKEND!!”
