“Hosts John and Pat gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and let us know about the surrounding nature trails et al on their quiet and well-maintained acreage. It was a wonderful experience right on the Androscoggin river. We enjoyed taking the canoe out to the surrounding islands, swimming in the afternoons, and enjoying the sunset from the Adirondack chairs. John gave us a tip to look out for the bald eagle nest across the river - and we were able to see an adult and juvenile bald eagle from our canoe. The breeze off the river kept the bugs away. Overall great experience!”
“We had an enjoyable stay and John is a great host. Wonderful site right next to the river. We observed a beaver on the river as well as osprey, bald eagles, loons and great blue herons. John also has several miles of great hiking trails.”
“What a beautiful place! I spent 3 nights there with my 10 year old son. The location is perfect, and the tent, fire pit, and upgrades (canoe, bedding), were all in great shape. We arrived late in the evening for our first night, and it was incredibly convenient to have everything prepared for us. The site was also well-stocked with firewood. The owners of the property, John and Patricia, greeted us and gave us a little overview of their land and goals of preserving the environment. It is great to see people investing in conservation. All in all it was en excellent experience, and we hope to return.”
“We had an amazing time at slippery rock river retreat! The campsite is beautiful, peaceful, and very well maintained. John and pat let us settle in before coming to greet us which was perfect after a long drive (we came from new york to maine)

“Our stay at Slippery Rock River Retreat was everything we could’ve imaged, and more! This site is in a sucluded, private area right on the water. When the river is low, there’s a small private beach right in front of the site. The Campkeepers are very friendly and inviting. They will show you around and give you a map to explore their acres and acres of land! The river is perfect for kayaking and conoeing. There is also a ton of wildlife - we saw the local eagle three times. Very quiet lake with a lot of personality. We plan to come back with our bikes to explore even more!”
“You cannot find a more beautiful place to spend some time. The hosts are truly wonderful and very responsive and helpful. The land is incredible and very peaceful. We enjoyed our time paddling, riding our a mountain bikes, swimming, sitting in the Adirondack chairs watching the water and storms roll through. It was a very relaxing two days. The only thing we wished was a little bit better was the cot. It was not very firm. But considering how amazing everything else was it was easy to overlook this.”
