Tentrr is your private camping experience. We connect adventurers like you with private landowners who want to share their land so you can experience new places.
“I'll start by agreeing with the rest of the reviewers that the location of this Tentrr is spectacular. Driving right up to the campsite, you have a perfectly secluded setup right on a beautiful lake under a perfectly starry sky. The kayaks are a wonderful addition and everything was perfectly set up to enjoy meals around the campfire.
Based off previous reviews and the price, however, we had higher expectations for communication and service than what we experienced. It seems that the campsite owners, Andrew and Ellen, are no longer managing the site themselves; getting confirmation of our reservation took a while (we almost started looking at other options) and once we did hear back, Alice, the new camp-keeper, could be slow to respond to questions. We did not receive the maps, on-site trail information, or access to the farm that several other reviewers seem to have gotten prior to arrival.
Our biggest frustration with communication, however, came on the third day of our four day visit when we needed more firewood. With no cell phone reception at the campsite, we drove to the farm at 10am to text Alice a request for more firewood and she assured us that it would be brought down to the site later that day. When we got back from a day of hiking around 4pm, there was still no additional firewood. We drove back to the WiFi zone and were assured that someone would be bringing us firewood around 6pm. As that time came and went, worried about not having anything to start a campfire or the stove with, two of us decided to just drive to a nearby store to purchase some ourselves as most of the wood we could forage was fairly wet. It was only on our drive back that a text message came through indicating the firewood had been left at the farmhouse for us to come pick up. If we had continued to wait at the campsite, how would we have known? Why were we told several times it would be brought down?
Another thing to note is that the air mattresses can be very loud with even small tosses and turns in the night. The couple sleeping on the bottom bunk had to use ear plugs to sleep because even a small amount of movement from the top bunk was pretty loud--we could even hear it while sitting out at the campfire while someone was asleep inside. Overall, this was fundamentally overpriced and I don't think any of us would be quick to return to Tentrr if this is considered one of the better locations.”
“From plenty of firewood to Mantas for paddling, we had everything we needed. The weather was awful for the first half of one of our days and the canvas tent did well. Some leakage around the base, but that's to be expected with a platform. I can't imagine how unpleasant it would have been in our own usual tent. The wood burning stove was SO helpful in the cool weather, damp weather!
A BEAUTIFUL view with added convenience!”
“The setting was wonderful, beautiful and isolated. All was as had been described. The loo wasn’t as bad as I’d feared.
Initial communication was a problem in making reservations. It took four days to find out if reservations were accepted, which prevented us from making other plans.”
“We recently stayed for three nights and it was magical! Great weather, great views, private and not to mention the loons serenading your to sleep. Wonderful amenities, swimming, kayaking, and very cozy tent. Be prepared for the owls to come visit - I think they were just curious:) We will definitely be back!”
“The location of the camp is beautiful. You feel like the only people in the world. Kayaks were so much fun and we spent a lot of time swimming and fishing. The amenities were great, with firewood, camp lanterns and tiki torches all included. The water carriers and sun shower were already filled up upon arrival. My only complaint is that when we got a hard, driving rain the floor of our tent got all wet, including our luggage. I would definitely recommend it to friends.”
“There was a mix up and another couple was already at the site because they had been given the coordinates for the wrong site. Everyone we dealt with to fix the situation was wonderful. Great Customer service and it did not detract from the amazing stay.”
“Wow! We stayed three nights here and it was amazing! The location is right on a lovely pond with all the privacy you could ask for. There were kayaks and lifejackets provided which we used each day to paddle around the pond. It was beautiful this time of year with the leaves starting to change colors! The host also had plenty of outside chairs, firewood stocked up, lanterns in the tent, matches, tiki torches, a charcoal grill with a bag of charcoal among a few other things! There was also a shed that I put the potty in. There is some cell service but not a lot - which is ok with us. But if you needed to use your phone and couldn't get service their farm down the road was wifi and the trip into town you can get service. Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed longing around camp and free access to the pond. We made sure to leash them at night as we did hear a fair amount of wildlife in the distance and see a porcupine at dusk by camp. What great memories. We cannot wait to visit again (hopefully many times!) next year!!”
