“High Peak Meadows Is Such a lovely spot! We felt like we were alone in the world, we didn’t see another person for three day’s except when we hiked up to the waterfalls. The view of the mountains with the sun coming over them (or wisps of fog in the morning) was glorious. Max was a great host and had everything ready when we arrived, and it was easy to get more wood and water when we needed it.”
“Do not be thrown off by past reviews saying that this site is accessible with anything other than an SUV or similar vehicle with high clearance!
We arrived at High Peak Meadows a few days after Tropical Storm Isias totally rocked much of NY state, and the creek that we had to cross was WAY higher than we had ever anticipated - thigh deep in some spots - and we were already relatively unprepared in a minivan that we stupidly thought would provide adequate clearance. Silly us! So, we had 2 options - either get a hotel room, or figure out how to get our dang stuff across that creek! We drove around for hours trying to find some sort of flotation device to float our gear across (Windham Mountain Outfitters was the only place that had anything in stock and we found a hilarious llama raft that saved the day, don't bother looking anywhere else). Max, even though he was off site, was super available via phone, providing ideas and suggestions to actually reach the site. Please note, if you're unable to cross that first creek, it is a real schlep to get to the site and you cross over two smaller creeks along the way - but I swear, it could not be any more worth it. We were blown away by how incredible the hike was to get into the site, and then once we arrived, the seclusion - the privacy - the space - the STARS - HOLY MOLY. The site is truly incredible. Roaring Kill runs right behind the picnic table, so we listened to the sound of the water and even found spots deep enough to wade around and cool off. There is also a separate little fire pit/seating area in the woods for when that mid-day sun is hot as all heck. I 110% recommend bringing a canopy/screen house for during the day to provide some shade if you don't want to be in the woods! After reaching the site, we had absolutely no desire to leave, but the location is awesome with much to explore. While Max is off site he has caretakers that handle his sites, and they are incredibly kind and went out of their way to help us - if you order any extras and they're missing upon arrival, simply call Max. We were missing a couple of things (simple oopsie on one of his caretaker's parts, no biggie at all) and he had them to us within 20 minutes of arrival. Max - thank you so much for sharing this magical property. We watched the dragonflies dance during the day, marveled at the bats prowling in the evening, and drooled over the stars at night. My dogs had the time of their lives, and we cannot wait to return.”
“My husband and I had a great time at this campsite! Max was a very attentive host and made us feel very welcome. We arrived the day after tropical storm Isaias and the creek that you need to cross to get to the site was higher than usual. This caused a bit of a delay but Max kept in constant contact with us, letting us know when it would be safe to cross the creek with our Tacoma. Even though we had a bit of a schedule change on our first day, it ended up being an adventure! We loved being able to swim in the stream that was right next to the site. In addition, there were hiking trails accessible right from the campsite so we didn't even have to drive to a trailhead! We will definitely be back here!”
“This is the most amazing campsite! We spent 2 days here with 3 families and were so sad to leave. It's a beautiful spot with lots of space and the creek and the swimming holes are fantastic. Max was super helpful and responsive. We hope to be back soon. And yes, you do need an SUV to go through the creek.”
