“This was an amazing getaway. If you want to be secluded and have a beautiful view of trees and hilltops, with little to no sign of humans… this is the place to be. The small town at the bottom of the hill has a few taverns and a supermarket for picking up the necessities or killer non-camp dining and drinking, but other than that, there’s nothing here.
The ONLY downside is that the hill is an extremely steep and long (I estimate a little less than a mile) path in the forest and the “road” isn’t paved so it’s nigh impossible to reach without either a AWD vehicle or an off-road bike. I arrived on a large motorcycle (cruiser) and couldn’t make it up the hill and actually put my bike down several times in the attempt. If you’re not a fan of hill/mountain hiking, this will be a dealbreaker.
That said, the seclusion is well worth it and seeing the stars at night with no lights other than the campfire (and our cell phones) was exactly what we were looking for. Being on top of a hill without even trees over our heads was pure bliss and the camp owner is really nice and keeps the tent tidy with many of the necessities already available and ready for use. “What a beautiful place to spend a weekend! Lewis is a fantastic, friendly and helpful host. He greeted us to direct us up to the campsite and the tent was equipped with all of the essentials. You are truly in a private oasis but a quick 3 minute drive down the mountain and you’re in the cute town of Hillsdale. It certainly gets chilly at night so bring and extra blanket and layers! :) thank you Tentrr & Lewis, it was an unforgettable experience”
