“I cannot say enough wonderful things about the space. It was so surreal and zen, building a fire at night and listening to birds, insects, and owls. The bed was more comfortable than my own bed at home. I adore the wood-burning fireplace inside the tent, the comfy bedding and little lanterns for us. Me and my friend made a nice little meal over the fire. Great big Adirondack chairs to lounge around in and escape the grind. Lovely table for prepping and having dinner. Secluded but safe. Pat was such a wonderful thoughtful host. Having firewood on site was clutch and helpful. Now back in society, I’m missing the little cozy nest and hope to return ASAP. Just divine. Perfect 10s across the board!”

He ensured that we were taken care of from start to finish, providing everything from a shuttle to and from Garrison train station to all the firewood we could ask for. The site was extremely tranquil: a perfect respite from NYC, even if just for a night. I’d gladly return to Patrick’s site for another Tentrr experience. I can’t speak highly enough of Patrick’s unrivaled accommodation!”
“Downing Wood was such a dream. My parents were visiting me in Manhattan from Texas, and wanted an off the grid upstate adventure. This was the perfect solution. Quick trip on the MetroNorth, and a great campsite with all the necessities. I would definitely recommend renting a car if you are wanting to explore further than the campsite, as getting an uber was nearly impossible. Patrick was a great host and we would definitely stay here again.”
“My hubby, dog and I camped here yesterday to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Patrick was super helpful from start to finish. The extra touches were so nice ie: bedding was provided, camping lanterns, fire pit, propane camping stove, to name a few things. The bed was incredibly comfortable as well! “It was our first time camping, and we absolutely loved ittt! Patrick and his wife were very helpful and accommodating to whatever we needed. The location of the campsite was perfect, not too far from the city, but far enough to disconnect ourselves from the stress back in the city. We even went hiking on the Appalachian Trail really close by. My boyfriend and I have been recommending their site to many others, and we are planning to go camping again pretty soon!”
“My 2 kids and husband and I had a great time at Downing Wood! It's a beautiful and quiet spot to get away from the city. We had fun exploring the woods around the camp site and roasting hotdogs and marshmallows by the camp fire. The tent is spacious and the bed is super comfy. Overall a vey easy way to camp if you don't have all your own equipment, and a nice break from the city only 75 minutes away by train. Patrick and Kat told us about the history of the area and were great with answering any questions we had. We would like to go camping here again soon!”
