Tentrr is your private camping experience. We connect adventurers like you with private landowners who want to share their land so you can experience new places.
“When I started looking into tentrr sites I knew I had something specific in mind. Close to hiking spots, close to water to swim, just far enough away- yet close enough to run out for ice cream, and somewhere where the necessities would be provided so that we could really just bring ourselves. We started our day off at a hike in the Catskills (Slide Mountain) and then headed over to the site. It was absolutely beautiful!! A perfect size clearing for our dog to explore surrounded by ferns that go as far as you can see. You’d have no idea that there was anything around you for miles. However, a 5 minute was will take you down to the shore of the reservoir. The site also had an enclosed toilet that was definitely a plus! The outdoor shower was in the perfect location and lasted much longer than expected. We got a fire started right away and it lasted well into the night and the next morning for breakfast. Definitely purchase the extra wood, worth it for sure! There were so many things that I had meant to throw in to be safe.. kitchen utensils, towels, gloves for the fire, etc. and everything I could have ever needed was already provided for us! Jeff provided us with extra coolers with ice and bottle water in it too! It began raining pretty heavily from midnight on and off through the morning and we stayed completely dry the whole time. It was actually the most relaxing part of the trip! It was the perfect quick getaway for my boyfriend, dog, and I. We will be returning for sure!”
“This campsite is really great! Jamie the owner thought of everything. I use to take the my two oldest up to the Catskills when they were little. Now with a another younger one, I want to show her the beauty of the Catskills and the importance of being able to unplug and just enjoy everything that nature has. I was tempted to rent a home, because it's hard to camp as you get older and use to hotels. But my younger one wanted a "real" camping trip.
At this campsite you don't have to bring anything but your food in a cooler and your bathing suit. I think Jamie even had towels for our use, but I had already brought mine. The tent was set up like a cool bedroom. The aerobed was comfy enough as aerobed's go. We stayed snug and dry even during the day of rain. Because the campsite is surrounded by very tall trees, you don't feel a lot of the rain. Don't let rain stop you in the Catskills. We went swimming in the clean lake just a short walk from the campsite. Bring noodles and water shoes.
What I noticed unique about this campsite is that a very large space was cleared for the camper. There is ample room for two cars to park near the site. There is ample clear grass for kids and pets to play on without worry of tripping over rocks. My daughter was practicing her cartwheels and landed on the soft ground. The fire pit was also ample and nicely set-up with large stones around it so if you really wanted your feet or tush to get toasty sit on one of the rocks while the fire is going. Be careful though, as I dried my sneakers on the rocks I burnt the rubber a little. Oh well, good thing those were my back-up sneakers. But you can get such a nice warm fire going, we were even able to dry our heavy beach towels when hung facing the fire. Get the extra fire wood. It's worth it for that wonderful camping experience. It's far less expensive then getting bundles from the store. Besides you get authentic logs. Jamie provides everything you need to start your fire. There happens to be a tree branch just over the firepit, so I was able to get a fire going even in the light rain and it seemed to keep going overnight in the thunderstorm so I had enough sparks to start up one in the morning. I think that comes from using real tree branches instead of those bundles. Jamie also has everything you need to cook and eat, which I had forgotten so it was great. She has great cast iron skillets which are great for cooking up poached eggs. If you need any groceries there are a couple of stores only 5 minutes away.
The campsite location was very private. There were no other neighbors or people walking around. We felt like it was just us and the trees. But it wasn't so remote that we didn't hear the occasional car coming down the road below. So in case you have fears of total isolation, no worries. You can use her lake below for the quick swim or launching your own canoe, not sure if you can bring a motorboat. But I also like to go to Lake Superior State Park which is only 10 to 15 min away. There is a sandy beach area for kids and paddleboat rentals. While there are BBQ grills there, it was easier to just come back to the campsite and get toasty by the fire while waiting for burgers. The outhouse on the campsite was actually very nice. Much nicer than a portajohn. It didn't smell at all and you had complete privacy, even with the door open. The outdoor shower was very handy for a quick rinse, but use the water economically, especially if you have a lot of campers. There are not a lot of people who live around the area so you will pretty much have privacy all the time. Jamie was an attentive hostess and checked in to see if we needed anything and to see if we were okay during the storm. While you may think the price is pricey for "camping", as someone who has both camped, stayed in luxury hotels, and rented homes there, it was worth every single penny. Camping is such a great experience and Tentrr hosts provde everything you need without being gimicky or inauthentic and without the WORK of hauling and setting up everything. It is especially great if you are going without strong helpers. I use to set-up and take down everything myself, that's why I don't like to camp anymore. But now I just take what I'd normally take to a hotel or resort. But camping is so great for kids. And with so many comforts, camping becomes a wonderful experience for adults and children. My daughter actually did not jump back on her iPad when we got back to the site. At 7, it was completely safe for her to walk the dog around herself, explore the woods a bit, and make her own s'mores. And for my millennials, it was a great place to blast their music while they chilled, read, watch a little Netflix, and cooked their own eggs over the fire. Hopefully well go again share the experience with more friends.”
“We had the most amazing weekend at Jamies campsite! The campsite had everything we needed and more; from a fire pit/firewood, a grill top, utensils, picnic table, chairs, etc.. The campsite itself has parking but feels very secluded. You are only a short walk from an amazing lake as well! The highlight for us though was meeting Jamie's wonderful yellow lab "tootsie". We would definitely come back.”
“We had the most fabulous weekend at Jamie’s tentrr. She has truly thought of everything and made our first camping experience an incredibly positive one! The site was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, and she was available throughout the weekend in case we needed anything at all. From being greeted with homemade cookies to her husband helping us build a fire, they were welcoming and helpful, and made the campsite feel like home. They were accommodating with our check-in and check-out times, and offered suggestions of things to do nearby (especially when it rained the entire second day.) We would highly recommend this tentrr to camping aficionados and newbies alike; it’s a perfect weekend getaway!”
“We had a wonderful stay at the swinging bridge sanctuary! The campsite was above expectations; Nice and remote but close enough to stores and restaurants. Jamie and Jeff were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. They even made sure the fire was already going when we arrived (late at night) so our tent was nice and cosy:) My boyfriend and I had the best camping weekend ever! ❤️”
