Tentrr is your private camping experience. We connect adventurers like you with private landowners who want to share their land so you can experience new places.
“This was our first time using Tentrr. We usually camp at several campgrounds throughout upstate NY, but wanted to try something different.
The bathroom situation is not ideal- but that is a Tentrr issue (not a reflection of this particular site-just in general). I am not sure if paying this amount of money for a site that has no real bathroom makes any sense to me. I loved the privacy of the site and in reality that kind of is what you are paying for. That is all Tentrr sites it seems. I had a vague idea about what I was getting into based off what was on the website... but was a bit bummed when I saw the portolet is a bit of a walk from the site (grateful there was one, though!).
The best part about this experience was how lovely the wooded site was and how helpful our hosts were. There is plenty to do around here: horseback riding, hiking, mountain bike riding, and even breweries. Exploring the abandoned zoo was quite fun as well!
I highly recommend taking the strongest bug spray possible and perhaps bringing along some of those citronella candles. Having a fire throughout the day/night when you are at the site helps keep the bugs away as well. Also- GET THE LIGHTING KIT!!!
The hosts were very responsive before / throughout our stay and we appreciated their efforts to be as helpful as possible.
Overall, it was a lovely time and definitely a "roughing it out" style of camping and we are happy we took the opportunity to experience it.”
“What a fantastic location and wonderful people! The communication was top notch from start to finish. The directions were concise and easy to follow. We booked the trip as a birthday celebration for our son and three of his friends. They all loved every minute! Our site was perfectly placed and so private -and very well appointed! The tent is large, comfortable, and clean. We did use the Tenterr Loo and it was really not bad! We had a downpour for most of our Saturday, but that only added to the fun of exploring the old Game Farm! (Sharing our childhood memories with our teenaged son and his friends was terrific.) At one point we needed some more dry wood and Ben, just a text message away, brought it to us so quickly! Thanks again Ben!! Also, we used the in-tent stove and BOY does it work! Word of advice: When they say make a tiny fire, really keep it tiny or you'll be opening the doors and windows! But how awesome that it's so effective!!!
All in all, we highly recommend this site. The Tentrr experience beginning to end was wonderful. Ben and Cathy are amazing hosts, and the Old Game Farm is a really cool and unique destination for the whole family! Can't wait to return!”
“Ben welcomed my friend and me, he was really helpful !
He helped us with the fire, without him I think we couldn't eat lol
Called for us (because we're French) the ranch for the horse riding).
It's a nice place in the wood, you're alone in the nature, I love that.
Ben suggested us a hiking near the campsite, it was wonderful.”
“It was really nice to be able to see the Old game farm. I had visited it two or three times as a child with the family. It is a shame to see the place in dispare and at the same time it was amazing to be in a abandoned place and it be ok to be there.
My wife and I met Ben at the entrance of the old ticket booth. He was really nice and very informative to my many questions. He showed us where water was, the tentrr sight, sold us some wood and showed us the small camper store and how it worked. We had spent about a hour or so exploring the property. We hope to come back when they finish the giraffe house and spend a night. They seem to have a good plan to keep the place for many years as a working campground and a place for so many of us that shares a special time there in the past. I definitely recommend staying here it's a well worth experience and a very unique camping site.”
“Great time at this site! Convenient amenities and very attentive hosts, coupled with beautiful landscapes all around. Ben helped us settle in nicely and walked us through everything we needed. Will definitely be back!”
“Our family had a pleasant stay at the Wooded campsite with much seclusion, peacefulness and a forest scenery, complemented by a secured/gated property; this campsite is practically new with rapidly improving surrounding/supporting infrastructure. Ben (the groundskeeper) is quite courteous, attentive and reliable. We are poised to visit again!
