“We love back country camping but didn’t have the time this August to get a trip together. We discovered Tentrr and RCR and can’t believe our good luck. Perfect low key paddling, great campsite that’s practically luxurious. Loved the bench boxes and camp stove “kitchen area”. Leah and Mack were super hosts!”
“My husband and I stayed here for two nights as a short getaway. We brought our border collie, who is very anxious around other people, so privacy and a bit of seclusion was a must so she could relax as well. This place was perfect for that! The campsite itself is about a 5ish minute walk from the car if you park up towards the start of the trail. Even then, it’s a steep drive to get to that point. We took our Jeep so we had no problems getting there (but definitely wouldn’t recommend trying it with a smaller 2WD vehicle).
The campsite is simple but provided what we needed to just chill for two days. There was a campfire grill top provided, and we brought a cast iron skillet to cook. A bundle of camp wood was also provided, we went through about 3 bundles of wood total in our time there.
The bed in our tent was super comfortable, but If we stay here again I’ll definitely spring for the inclusive package ( as we forget to bring pillows and only had travel neck pillows). There’s a small wood stove in the tent if it gets cold at night, but the weather was perfect for our mid August trip and we didn’t need it.
There’s a river about 20 ft away from the tent down a hill, our dog spent most of the time swimming and playing fetch in it. We did go in swimming once for a few minutes, but there are quite a lot of large branches in it and surrounding it that made it uncomfortable, something to keep in mind for kids. I’d recommend crocs or some sort of footwear in case you step on a sharp branch while in there.
Our hosts were very nice, and available to answer and questions via call or text (Although we only had one bar of cell service out there). I would highly recommend this spot as a base for your western Maine vacation, or as a good way to get away from it all for a few days as we did!”
“Great spot! Our family really enjoyed our stay. We appreciated the inclusive package with everything nicely set up for us before arrival, as it was a spontaneous camping stay on a longer road trip. Communication was great too!”
“This was a wonderful stay in a beautiful, quiet and magical location. Everything was neat and clean, easy and peaceful. Definitely would stay here again!”
“This is a great place to spend a few days and get away from it all. We really enjoyed swimming in the river, kayaking, and hiking nearby. Leah was very helpful and the extra tent she provided was great, big enough so that our two kids had plenty of room for themselves and their stuff. It held up well and stayed dry inside when we had one night of pouring rain. We recommend this campsite!”
“This is a wonderful location. The campsite was clean and came with everything needed to have a wonderful time. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. Leah was very helpful when I had questions and responded right away. I'd stay here again.”
