“Had a fantastic night at Grotto View. This was my first time camping experience, so it was perfect accommodations for a camping-but-not-totally-on-your-own vibe! The tent was very cute and the stove was very effective at warming the tent. I would recommend bring your own sleeping bag, as it gets pretty cold even w the sheets provided. We brought our own and it was perfect!”
“Great spot and a cozy tent! Highly recommend for a little getaway if you enjoy simple, outdoor camping. This is not 'glamping', but if you have a bad back like me, getting a bed and a dry, sturdy tent is perfect!”
“It’s a really nice place, the tent is far from others, you’ll have privacy and it’s a really beautiful place! My host Gwyneth was great and responded to all my texts.
The reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is: the place is not exactly what they described, so it was not what we were expecting. The tent stinks really really REALLY bad, the screen won’t keep bugs, spiders or snakes away because there are small holes on the corners of the tent and there’s nothing covering the floor so they can come in very easily. Gladly I’ve brought my own tent and mattress and we slept in it, we didn’t even touch their bed because, first: it didn’t look or smell clean, second: it was full of spiders 24/7.
The “drinkable water” does not look safe to drink, it’s not clear, but it’s okay for washing and showering, even though their portable shower was not working so we user a gallon we brought.
Last thing, we paid for their kitchen kit. If it was just there for everybody to use like everything else I wouldn’t mind, but we paid for things that were dirty and infested with bugs. The forks had spiders eggs and webs all over. We ended up buying charcoal and paper utensils at the closest gas station and we never even used anything from their kit, it was a waste of money. If the kit was just the stove + a clean skillet + disposable utensils it would’ve been worth it.
Also, there were big animals walking around at night and the gas horn to scare them away was empty, so bring your own horn if you don’t want company at night lol
Anyways, BASICALLY we never used anything from them but the actual space we were staying at. Not even the bed, not even the kitchen kit we paid for. It was just not really worth the money because if you want to be comfortable you’ll have to bring your own everything!
As I said at the beginning, it’s a nice place but it’s not what they described! We had fun after all but I can’t give it 5 stars when lots of things were not the way they described!”
“Perfect setting but the tent full of mold is the reason for three stars. The neighbor campers are about a 100 yards away, close enough to be heard, but distant enough to be ok.”
“Gwyneth was a great host, very easy check in and check out. The site is nice and has pretty much everything you need. Overall would recommend to those newer to camping! Thanks for having us Gwyneth!”
