“A great place! Yes the traffic is there and it will bother some people but there is a beautiful stream and its sound usually lessens the traffic sound. There are more than enough hiking routes and the small fall was just a beauty!”
“A special place, so wonderful to fall asleep to the sound of the waterfall. We ended up getting stuck at the lower site and Jim did a wonderful job of taking care of us, pulling us out. It is quite close to the road...but perhaps when the trees have all their leaves the valley is more secluded.”
“We really enjoyed our stay. Jim was great and responded to all of our texts very quickly. We suggest reading the posted instructions on how to use the loo properly and where everything is located. Property was beautiful. It was like having the whole forest to ourselves!”
“This location was a nice quick getaway from the city. Not too difficult to find and pretty clean. You can hear cars passing by in the distance, but for a last minute booking the beautiful woodsy surroundings made up for it. There are also very cute deer in the area! Firewood was provided but I would suggest bringing some fire starters or lighter fluid just to help the fire get going. Once the fire is going though it’s absolutely lovely and the wood stove keeps the tent warm at night.”
“We had a great time. The area was very pretty and hiking around the site was nice since most other hiking areas like Minnewaska were full by noon on the weekend.
At the Yosemite site, car lights are visible at night through the trees and the sounds are very noticeable, so it might take away from your camping experience. As city residents we are used to noise so it didn’t bother us much. You must walk past the other Resevoir Retreat camp site to get to explore. It’s a bit quieter at that one, but you can still hear some car noises that far in.
The amenities for cooking in the fire pit were great; grills to stand on top of the pit, and lots of space to prep and eat your food. There were some extra toiletries, plates, cutlery and firewood if we needed in a pinch, and the owner provided some kindling for us to get the fire started. If wood was wet due to rain, there is a Stewart’s nearby to buy anything you need.
The tent was big and comfortable, and the mosquito net was more than appreciated.
Overall we had a great experience as inexperienced campers! Thank you.”
“Our trip was amazing. Jim was so accommodating and it is such a beautiful property. The creak and the waterfalls were all that I needed in my life. It was so peaceful and not that far from NYC. We will be back!”
