“We loved our weekend at The Perch. Susan and David gave clear and easy instructions and were friendly and helpful when we needed assistance. The tent was comfy and had everything you needed for a rustic few days. Nice views, very quiet.”
“The perch is well appointed and in an amazing location, there is great stargazing and a meadow right in front of it, a short drive to woodstock vermont!”
“This listing is part of Tentrr (www.tentrr.com), which offers canvas “glamping” tents nation-wide. It is in an excellent location — quiet (with the exception of distant road noise), with beautiful views, easy access, and minutes from restaurants, shops, cafes, and an upscale grocery in charming Woodstock, Vermont. There are many hikes nearby, and a beautiful river for tubing and kayaking (the riverside White Cottage Snack Bar has burgers, ice-cream, etc, and is a great spot to splash in the water, and the Ottauquechee River Trail is an easy walk with several spots for a picnic and a swim). The communication from Tentrr and from our hosts (who live just down the road) was prompt, thorough, and helpful, and a welcome basket provided regional recommendations and a map. It is a lovely and convenient spot, and we very much enjoyed our stay.
This is essentially car-camping, so be prepared. The site provides a grill (no dishes or pots/pans), a fire pit (with s’smore makings), an outhouse, plenty of drinking water (in a thermos), a hammock, two Adirondack chairs, lanterns, and an outdoor solar camping shower hangs from the outhouse.
While Airbnb does list “essentials” among the amenities that are not included, the photos on the listing are very misleading; there are no sheets, pillows, comforter, or blanket. You must bring your own, and you cannot arrange for any to be provided with advance notice.
Also, it is a bunk bed (though perhaps if there are only two people, they remove the upper bunk; we were 3, so I don’t know). The air mattresses are incredibly noisy, and even the slightest shift sounds like thunder, unlike any air mattress I’ve ever slept on. The wood burning stove kept us toasty all night, but note that there is only one starter log and wood for one night; you can buy wood in town. There was broken class around the tent, and the grilling tools were greasy and dirty, but it was otherwise clean and well-maintained.”
