“My boyfriend and I are 2 overworked healthcare professionals and we were craving some nature and peace and quiet to recharge. We never went camping before and thought this service was a brilliant idea as we didn’t own any gear or have a clue where to go upstate.
This campsite was absolutely perfect for our first experience. It was secluded enough to feel we were in the middle of the woods. Ritika was incredibly helpful and gave us many ideas for where to visit nearby. The tent and bed were comfy and we had found the solar lantern helpful outside for when finding our way back to the tent. The site is near the rail trail which we took long walks on to enjoy the water and see fall foliage. It also was near enough (20 min) to restaurants as we also wanted to enjoy the local bites and not be too remote from anything if we needed supplies (we’re total newbies remember :) .
We do recommend buying lots of firewood if you plan on using the fire pit often and also keeping the tent warm at night with the stove. We didn’t own any sleeping bags and so we didn’t prepare as well for the cold the first night.
Star gazing was a big win! And my highlight was watching my boyfriend get super excited/serious about making a campfire. Our first experience was incredible, and we can’t wait to use Tentrr again!”
“We stayed at Starlight Starbright from Friday 13th - Sunday 15th. We are not avid campers, and while we have been camping before, this was our first camping experience in the USA. Overall, we had a nice time exploring this part of the world.
Pros:
- Plenty supply of firewood
- The blankets supplied were thick and excellent for the cold nights
- The stars at night were absolutely stunning
- The host Rikita had plenty of suggestions as to where to go, what to do, where to shop, and was readily contactable via email and mobile
- We were supplied with an extra 2 x5 gallons of hot water for a shower after our full day of hiking
- The area is gorgeous, there are plenty of hikes to do and attractions to see
Cons:
- When we arrived, the camp site didn't look like the images (the bushes were much more built up and there was an extra non-tentrr tent setup) so we weren't sure if we were at the right location
- The cutlery, crockery, pots, pans and mugs were dirty
- The bed wasn't made upon arrival (would have been nice as we arrived late from Manhattan)
- We couldn't find the solar shower as it wasn't setup for us
- The electric pump for the mattress was out of batteries and the mattress could have done with a bit of a pump up
- The lighter was out of lighting fluid
Unexpected Surprises:
- Random gunshots at 2:30am
- The air raid siren at 9am on Sunday”
“Very nice camp site with lots of space and an easy drive up from New York City. All the essentials were in place for a weekend under the stars and the hosts had excellent recommendations for local sights, activities and restaurants. The wood burning stove was a lot of fun and could easily heat water for tea and coffee in the morning and make the tent comfortable during the cool fall nights. There is a lot to do within a short drive from this location.”
“Ritika's place is lovely! The setting is very secluded and picturesque. Ritika and her husband were fantastic hosts who gave us great recommendations and left the campsite in amazing condition. Our dog had a great time swimming in the nearby creek and exploring the Rail Trail. We'll definitely be back!”
