“The area location was our main attraction to this site. Having a campsite right next to a babbling brook might look and sound nice, but it’s a draw for the mosquitoes as well. Make sure to bring plenty of bug protection if you stay here. The stove was the highlight of this stay, it worked great. However if you are looking to cook your own meals I suggest bringing something to light it with, a knife, cutting board, strainer, etc, are needed. We had our camping box with us just in case and I’m so glad we did. Also very glad we had brought our sleeping bags and pillows, just in case, because the bedding was damp and smelled musty. A day of airing out the tent in the dry sun did not help this situation. The privacy of the location was a positive, but all in all, staying here was just as much work as camping, and three times the price.”

“I booked the site based on the reviews, photos, and location. The host was great at responding to our questions and fast too and the touches in the main tent were sweet.
The directions with pictures were also clear.
I can see how it would be an experience to stay here as the space is definitely private and beautiful but not for more than a night.
I recommend arriving during the day and make sure you have good bug spray and shoes and be able to carry in what you need in one trip. Although there are two wheelbarrows, it’s best to only make one trip.
I should note that we only stayed a few hours. This is because we realized that it wouldn’t work for us.
We had food for our 4-day, 3-night stay and quickly realized that the we wouldn’t be grilling. We were concerned about the heat of the grille being right next to the nylon of the tent and thought we might put it outside, but the mosquitoes were in full combat mode.
The “fire pit” is small, portable, and covered and we knew s’mores were out.
The main tent sits at the top of the campsite on a platform and is quite nice. The bathroom tent is behind that. The compost toilet is a nice touch but it sits high and requires balance - there’s nothing to grab a hold of.
The guest tent is closest to the entrance and smelled musty and is quite the hike to the toilet.
We were unable to find potable water and realized the campsite wasn’t going to work for us.
We then realized that it was 17-miles to Ellsworth and 50-miles one-way to Acadia. This isn’t a drive we wanted to do daily.
Good for one night but not not a multi-day stay unless you’re okay with cold cuts or have plans to eat out.
July was incredibly buggy - we each had mini swarms around us.”
“Thank you for a unique and cool experience. It was a great stay on the way to Acadia and we loved the extra touches like the double zip tent which was clutch for keeping out the bugs. The platform for the tent with the porch was a nice touch, also loved the fire pit with citronella candles. The babbling brook makes for a very peaceful setting. I didn’t see this listed anywhere, so wanted to mention that there is an extra charge for using the lake kayaks, which was a surprise to me. All in all, a good time!”
