“Best choice to escape the Covid nightmare. We’re very thankful with Kate who was the best guide and host. She and and everyone that work at Calico everyday made our first experience for camping great, even though it was rainy. Kate was kind and helped beyond us beyond our expectations. We'll always remember this experience with love in our memories, she had all the precautions necessary for Covid and she was friendly and warm with our daughter. Recommended 100%, we hope to return soon. We thank Kate and all the people who work in such a lovely place. Don’t forget to try the delicious food, organic eggs, dishes and croissants at their Cafe.”
“Sap Bush Hollow's site was everything we could have hoped for. Shannon and Bob were so friendly and welcoming, they provided us with some camping basics (firewood, water, big warm comforter, lantern-- very kind) and gave us information about their farm and all the local activities and stomping grounds -- even a history of the area and some bird guides. The view from the Tent is incredible, overlooking the sheep pasture nestled in the rolling hills. The site is very open, but without any other human in sight. If we needed anything, it was a nice stroll to the farm, or a phone call away (there is a bit of service up on the hill). We were cozy with the stove lit in the tent, and perfectly comfortable. They even provided some board games and ball games for entertainment. We also bought some of their farm raised meat and eggs, which was delicious! It was a perfect weekend getaway!”
“My girlfriend and I stayed here for a weekend. If you're even remotely considering a trip to the Catskills you should book this asap. The campsite is incredible, peaceful, and has everything you could possibly need, but most of all Shannon, Bob and the fam are incredible hosts. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time.
There are so many places to hike and swim in the area, Scrumpy Ewe Cider, a brewery, etc A really cool part of NY to visit.
For breakfast there is the Sap Bush Hollow cafe on weekends and for dinner, Shannon and Bob sent us up to camp with sausages from the farm store that we cooked over the fire.
If you're looking for nature, hiking, farming, swimming, eating, drinking, peace and quiet, campfire cooking, and anything like that you'll love it. We only wish we could've stayed for longer.
The tent itself is great too. There was actually a thunderstorm at night and we slept through it and remained perfectly dry.”
“Calico Ridge is everything you see in the listing and more. We had a fabulous time there and are already dreaming about going back. Shannon and Bob are warm, thoughtful and generous hosts who have gone above and beyond in outfitting their site to provide tons of extras. They've thought of everything to make it easy to show up and enjoy their gorgeous campsite. We particularly loved the cozy bedding and the tarp over the picnic table to provide shade. There were lots of extras tucked away at the site, just in case we'd forgotten something: matches, a flashlight, dish soap, an extra jug of water and many, many more. They even stocked their high end cooler with a bag of ice, then offered to refill it for us during our stay! Their guide to local sites and attractions is outstanding. It really gave us a sense of the area and provided tons of ideas for places to visit. When we asked for information about fireworks over the 4th of July, they promptly sent an email, then provided us with a hand drawn map. Shannon and Bob are experienced hosts who have mastered the balance between checking in with guests while also leaving plenty of time and space for you to relax and enjoy yourself. Their hospitality and knowledge of the area really made the experience for us. I only wish that our timing had worked out to try brunch at the charming cafe that they run up the road. This Tentrr site is outstanding. We enjoyed the expansive view of meadows and forests, the clouds overhead and, at night, the fireflies and stars. I highly recommend Calico Ridge!”
