An absolute bargain, these speakers are priced VERY low considering their performance, 10 or so years as a What Hifi award winner says it all. I won't go on about the sound as it's all in the other reviews here, but I have heard it said that these speakers shame other standmounts at 3 times the price and the bass is as good as some floor sranders, love mine and still get emotional listening to them after 3 plus years of ownership. Buy with confidence, it's impossible to beat at the price.

The SCM11s are superb stand mounters for the price, vastly better than the old Mission M1s I've been using for years. The attention to detail and range of musical expression they can deliver is quite exceptional - I'm extremely happy with them. They look great as well and are very solidly built.

Superb sound quality, exceptional build quality and not fussy about placement. Would highly recommend these, they live up to the excellent press reviews.

Awesome sound. Has the uncanny ability to draw out so much detail from well produced music. A perfect partner for Naims but pretty sure it will work well with other systems. Thoroughly recommended.

I have KEF LS50 speakers which I consider to be perhaps the best speaker on the market up to now, considering the £799-a-pair price. They are surprisingly good. However the ATC SMC11, admittedly more expensive at £1,200, are just that 'something' more and something of a bargain, too. Especially good with tonal balances when playing orchestral music and very happy with pop and jazz their virtues become very apparent. Detail, dynamics, musical insight, agile, satisfying bass, depth and staging all impress. The cabinet finish is also first-class. Over the years I have had a number of good,variously-priced, speakers but the SMC11's manage to have all the virtues of them all wrapped up in one pair of cabinets. A VERY happy choice.

To give context to how I came to chose the ATC SCM11 speakers after demoing some eight different stand mount models at various dealers. I have always had standmount speakers since I started buying hi fi in the mid seventies. Recently I moved my system comprising a Naim Nait XS and Naim ND5 XS streamer to a larger room and was freed from the constraints of needing a small speaker Spendor S3/5se chosen because their bass did not interact dramatically with the small rooms dimensions as all the ported speakers did. However, the experience made me wary of the impact ports especially rear ports can have when placing the speakers where you need them. The ATC speakers are sealed boxes which reduces the risks of room placement issues. But what really impressed me is the quality of the bass compared to ported speakers. The bass sounds so natural all the way down to its limits. You can really here the pitch and timbre of the bass notes and drums. Rock music has real punch and excitement. The mids are natural and the highs detailed and airy. The ATC's have a studio heritage and they let you hear right into the mix. They differentiate good from poor recordings. To me speakers are the most personal of hi fi components, they interact with and have to operate in your unique listening room. For me the ATCs do that brilliantly and the music has never sounded so engaging. Highly recommended.
