An excellent component, in my opinion, which lives up to all the comments and praise that I read, when researching the item. Although, I would agree with the comments of some reviewers, that it probably needs to be connected to other decent components and cables to get the best out of it.

I bought the Innuos Statement as a replacement for my Roon Nucleus, and it is better in every respect. The Nucleus was good for running Roon but didn't add much in terms of sound quality compared to storing the music on a NAS drive or just streaming from Tidal. I thought initially the massive improvements brought about by the Statement (improved soundstage, musicality, PRAT, everything) was because, unlike the Nucleus it had a direct ethernet connection to my streamer instead of going via the network. This is part of the difference for sure, but what really surprised me was the improvement it brought to the other music systems in my house, which are connected to it by network only. It was like having a record player in every room! Stored music now sounds better than TIDAL, and TIDAL sounds way better than it did before. I tried disconnecting the Nucleus and streaming directly as I used to do and found the sound flat and compressed. The Statement makes digital music not sound digital! In the words of Ferris Bueller: 'If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.' A few tips that aren't in the manual (and are true at least in my own system): CDs ripped on the Statement sound better than CDs ripped elsewhere and then imported. CDs ripped to WAV on the Statement sound better than CDs ripped to FLAC on it. CDs ripped on the 'slow, loud' setting of the Statement sound better than those ripped on 'fast, quiet' The Statement is quite power-cable sensitive. If you treat it to a good 'un it'll thank you!
