I have worked diligently over the years to get my system to a level where the journey is nearing its end. The weakest link in my system is and still is my Dac (Oppo Sonica). It has served me very well to date and is on it the way out permanently. My line stage & monoblocks is Mola Mola ( so you see where I am leaning to in terms of a Dac). The digital source is Melco N1HZ - SDD, Melco S100 switch, Sonore OpticalModule Deluxe etc, etc. I know that this a long intro, but it is about context. The Innuos PhoenixUSB Reclocker is a revelation , it was like installing a new pair of speakers, the timbre and spacing! It widened the soundstage and showed that digital information within those files can be unlocked and reclocked. A staple track that the whole family loves is The Beastie Boys -Sabotage. The extra information and detail was outstandingly amazingly clean, accurate with zero colorisation. This is my 1st Innuos product and wow

I have read most of the reviews about this black magic box. You tend to become very sceptical because after all it’s only “usb”. It needed time to break in fully (about 200 hours), but with noticeable improvement after about 100 hours. It just lifts a series of veils from the music. Everything is just so so much better. Don’t replace anything upstream of it (dac onwards) until you let it do its magic in your system. You could be wasting a lot of money if you do. It went from an add on purchase, to totally essential. I could not live without it.

The Phoenix USB from Innuos is a bit of an extravagance to be honest, but it does make a difference. Mine is paired with a Zenith Mark 3 / Chord M-Scaler / TT2 plus Meze headphones (99 Classics / Copper Empyreans). What it brings is more precise / taut percussion timings (particularly drums) as well as more body to the sound. It's not a quantum change, but it is discernible. I'm listening to the DSOTM with 99 Classics and the cymbals on Us & Them I've never noticed them before at the front of the recording. So recommended to complete the sound In terms of Apps/settings with the Zenith Mark 3 despite starting with Roon I think iPeng has better sound. It does have Tidal Intergation / Streaming, but you can't download HiRes masters in iPeng. It's also a bit fiddly to get iPend to work with Tidal as Innuos need to set some Squeezebox passwords/settings up, but their customer support is very good, even coping with a non-techy like me. Innuos are working on the InnuOS App to resolve this, but it has no availability date yet.
