“Whilst many may decry the notion of an audiophile switch, I’d urge you to have a listen and make your own judgement (and audition a few Ethernet cables while you’re about it). Whilst “bits are bits”, the ground plane and quality of the electronics all fundamentally affect the degree with which digital noise leaks through the Ethernet connections to other components thereby affecting their (more) sensitive analogue circuitry. I’d previously been using an industrial-grade Cisco 2960 which compared back to back with a low-cost switch did wonders for removing the digital hash that can get in the way of music listening enjoyment. Quite simply the Melco S100/2 takes this impact to the next level, aided and abetted not only by a well-engineered ground plane, but by the inclusion of low-noise 100Mbps ports dedicated to Network Players in addition to a number of Gigabit ports for your other digital AV components. It’s very well built and does wonders for audio streaming performance - highly recommended.”
