I was already familiar with Chord Music interconnect, using it to partner my Chord MScaler/Dave. Whilst the Music interconnect is undeniably very expensive, it really does take the music to another level with respect to a more three-dimensional soundstage, finer details and more natural effortless presentation, especially with vocals, that just brings you much closer to the music. Following a recent upgrade from a Rega P10 to a Rega Naia, I realised that the Rega interconnect I was using that comes with the Aura phono stage whilst good, was not doing the Naia justice - my Chord Music (XLR) providing all the benefits previously described. Given a lack of XLR inputs on my amp, upgrading my Naia/Aura interconnect required using RCAs, giving me the chance of comparing Chord Music RCA vs XLR across both my Naia/Aura and MScaler/Dave sources… In the context of my system, the better pairing was the RCA with the Naia/Aura and the XLR with the MScaler/Dave. The RCA interconnect seemed to provide a more neutral and more detailed sound for both analogue and digital sources, whilst the XLR seemed to provide a richer, fuller sound. Given the sheer amount of information the Naia is able to pull from good vinyl, the more detailed RCA worked very well… whereas the XLRs sounded fantastic with the MScaler/Dave, the richer sound taming any digital hardness (in comparison to the fluidity of analogue). Either way, XLR or RCA, I’d wholeheartedly recommend the Chord Music interconnect - it’s beautifully made, and really does lift the sound quality of your system akin to a component upgrade.
