“I have a Lyra Etna/Naim Aro/LP12 and felt I wasn't getting the best from the Etna. Jack/Ben/Steve kindly arranged an extended demo of the Calon and now it sings. Normal exemplary service from the Audiobarn team.”

“I was lucky enough to be auditioning a fantastic phono preamp, and was set on the purchase from Audiobarn. Something just made me want to try the Calon though. And I'm so glad I did. It has a naturalness and cohesion that is simply outstanding. Everything is under such control, but there is flow and dynamics that bring out all the subtle nuance of complex music while keeping everything ordered and engaging. Instruments seem to be placed more correctly in the soundstage, and it basically just sounds right. I'm no audio reviewer, but I know what I'm looking for and what I like, and I like this a lot. Vertere is a small British company run by great people who are passionate about making listening to records as wonderful and engaging an experience as it can be. They're music lovers, vinyl collectors and brilliant engineers, and this combination can be heard every time I flick on the Calon and drop the needle. Highly recommended.”

“The Calon is in a different league. Once heard (with xtrax) there’s no going back. Worth the hefty price tag. To describe the difference from the vertere phono: you can hear all the instruments separately but cohesively. It is like the music becomes charged, fuller as well as more detailed. I was and am blown away to be honest.”
