Have now had the Immersun installed for a week and am really impressed. Would recommend that you get a qualified electrician to install the main Immersun heating control unit, but the remote monitoring unit can be done by anyone. Although possibly slightly more expensive than other similar products, my understanding is that it is more robust, has greater functionality and is made in in the UK. I have started saving from day one on my water heating bill, and estimate about £100 per year saving for a 4kW system. I am very pleased I got the remote monitoring unit as that helps you see easily what you have saved in the past, via downloadable spreadsheets, as well as showing you in real time on your phone/tablet/PC what you are currently saving - in very clear easy-to-understand graphics. Only slight disappointment is not having the past historical data retrievable in less than hourly chunks, but all the other features ensure this is a great product.

The information this product gives you is great, but it has a number of issues too. Firstly, there is NO ssl security on the website. The product requires you to register a username, password and your email and your home address.... yet you are expected to give this information on an un-encrypted website. The website also allows you to remotely turn on your immersion heater... so in theory someone could sniff your username and password over an unencrypted network (for example in a cafe wifi network) and then could access your information and potentially turn on or off your heater. I contacted the manufacturer and their response was amazing they stated that adding SSL would give no extra security ? Then they never bothered to reply to my concerns. Secondly, I have to be honest... it often stops working. The website they use to display the information seems to be extremely slow and often the connection times out. I have a tablet computer displaying the data constantly, and I have to keep manually refreshing it because the auto refresh stops working regularly. For a £100 product, this is far from ideal. The information could have been stored locally on the box so I wouldn't have to access a remote website for it, but they have chosen to send the data to a remote server and display it on their website so you access it via the internet, except that their sever seems to be unable to handle the connection (it's 100% not my network, I have 200mbit internet and I have two internet connections and it happens every day and i'm also a network engineer so I know the problem is not at my end) I think to be honest they have probably only 1 webserver, and it's not able to handle all the connections. So to summarise, no security, website crashes repeatedly but the information provided is good. If they could only make their service more stable it would be perfect. I'm hoping they will improve that aspect but considering they don't seem to care about the security .. i'm not holding my breath.
