Good flavor but maybe low to medium heat. Disappointing.

I get 10-20 lbs of frozen roasted and chopped Sandia every year. I've been doing it for some time. This year it's terrible. Little taste and no heat. They tell me it was machine chopped this year due to Covid instead of hand chopped. Probably they difference since there is little chile meat. I'm not sure what I will do with the rest of the chile in the freezer. And how I will get through a year without chile. Hopefully we will be back to normal next year. IT is normally the best chile.

Hi, David! We are sorry to hear the chile this season wasn't quite up to your expectations. The crop this year did run a bit mild. Unfortunately, heat level is difficult to compare as it is so subjective. We would love to discuss this further and look into what might have happened here. Please contact us directly at support@hatch-green-chile.com. Best, The Hatch Chile Store

I was unfortunately very disappointed this year with how long it took to get my shipment and the quality of the chili's. Besides waiting over two months for my shipment which I can understand because of COVID, I ordered Hot chili and they were not very favorable this year or hot. Not sure exactly what happened since I have been a happy customer in the past.

H, David! I am so sorry to hear your order didn't meet your expectations. Your order was a pre-order for the 2020 crop, which are sorry about the delay on. All of Hatch chile has suffered after labor shortages, Covid-19 precautions, and freak snowstorms. Unfortunately, the whole Hatch Valley had milder than usual chile, which we did put a warning on our website about with each product page. This year-to-year swing is fairly common, and should not be as mild next season. Again, we are very sorry your roasted hot chile was not what you were hoping. To honor the gap in expectations, we have emailed you a code for 15% off your next order. With the 2021 crop not likely to be so mild and not have the crazy circumstances of the 2020 crop, you shouldn't experience these problems again! Thanks, The Hatch Chile Store

This chile is of great quality. Buyer beware though, hot was closer to med, than hot. But in a Covid year, we all make sacrifices. Thank you for being there for us!

Hi, Jeffrey! I am so glad you found the chile to be quality, but sorry to hear your order didn't meet your expectations for heat. All of Hatch chile has suffered after labor shortages, Covid-19 precautions, and freak snowstorms this year. Unfortunately, the whole Hatch Valley had milder than usual chile, which we did put a warning on our website about with each product page. This year-to-year swing is fairly common, and should not be as mild next season. Again, we are very sorry your roasted hot chile was not what you were hoping. We really appreciate your understanding that this was a wild year with very atypical events. With the 2021 crop not likely to be so mild and not have the crazy circumstances of the 2020 crop, you shouldn't experience these problems again! Thanks, The Hatch Chile Store

Good Morning! I'm hesitant to write an honest review. However, as a huge green chile fan and supporter of the Hatch Chile Store, I hope this will help with your production and service. On a very positive note, I was thoroughly impressed by the speed in which my emails were answered. I, also, like how I can receive credits, after referring friends and family to order from the Hatch Chile Store. These are excellent qualities and incentives. However, somewhere along the line, communication became confusing. Specifically, the phrase "first in, first out" was used quite frequently, when inquiring about when my order would be shipped. Honestly, I thought I had ordered early enough to receive my green chile products in a timely manner. I guess I was wrong. Yes, I understand that the weather and the pandemic constraints played a huge negative factor. For a chile addict, this delay was painful. Thankfully, as an optimist, I look forward to next year's smoother timeline. Once i received my order, I questioned the quality of the product. To date, I have used two bags of roasted, peeled, and chopped green chile. Oh, my goodness. Both bags were filled with endless seeds and excessive skins. I have never experienced such poor quality of a finished green chile product. As a result, the taste and flavor experience was hampered and had a low-key impact. Again, as a green chile addict, the anticipated high was a true let down. Finally, I feel the Mesilla Valley citizens are being ignored, when it comes to shopping locally for green chile products. I desperately miss having a small retail shop to purchase our roasted, peeled, and chopped green chile. To learn that the green chile needed to be shipped from Sacramento or Ohio or other distribution centers is disheartening. Please consider reopening a local shop for a few months to accommodate locals who want to shop here in the valley. If you need help, I would love to volunteer my time. Perhaps others would be interested, too. Please take care and stay healthy! All the best, Susan Colquitt Las Cruces, NM
