We have been getting this chile for the past three years. The box arrives in good shape and the chile smells wonderful inside. We usually lose 4-5 pods but we have have plenty to put up for the rest of the year. Roasting and peeling makes everything in the house smell wonderful!

The order was messed up before shipping, I almost got a free 10lb box via ground, but was honest and got it straightened out with a 3 day order. Got 61 peppers and 4 bad ones. They were bigger than last year's order, so I got less in number but many larger ones. All are now roasted and ready for consumption! Thanks!

We are wondering why this year's batch of chili peppers are such a light green color. Is this due to any sort of water/weather or other phenomenon? Just wondering. They taste as good as they normally do. Thank you! allparz@cox.net

I was so excited for my Hatch Green Chile this year! i ordered them last year and was very satisfied with the quality despite being a little pricey. That's to be expected though when you have to ship them to New York. I used to live in West Texas and have grown up with fresh Hatch Green Chile being available at every grocery store, but here there are hard to come by. I ordered 10 pounds and received them one day later than promised. There were a few that turned red, which I don't mind at all, but about 10 percent of the chiles had started to spoil and decay in the box. I was really disappointed to lose so many right off the bat. They also didn't roast very well. I was able to salvage most, but the flesh of the peppers seemed much thinner than normal which made them hard to keep as full chiles since I prefer to make chile rellenos with them. It makes me sad to have to write such a poor review.

Dear Gabe, I took a look at your order and it appears your order did arrive on time. You selected 3-Day shipping at checkout and your order was shipped Tuesday and delivered Friday. We strongly recommend 2-Day shipping on all orders for perishable shipping which would have prevented a great deal of the spoilage. In transit, chile begins to dry and dehydrate, thinning the meat. This explains why there was spoilage. We can re-ship a 5lb box to replace what you lost but strongly recommend that you use 2-Day shipping in the future. Best, Preston

The chilies I received were not of the same quality as the the ones I received last season. This box (10lb) were easily 50% soft and wrinkling. Last season's were all so crisp and vibrant. It was a disappointment. I had to get them roasted immediately before they wilted any further.

Hi Nancy, last year you opted for the recommended 2-Day Air shipping. This year, you selected 3-Day Air resulting in a significant cost savings. This is why the chile did not arrive in quite as fresh of shape. Let us know if you'd like us to re-ship.

Unfortunately this seasons green chile did not have any flavor at all. The chiles are very light in color and did not have the classic amazing smell of fall in New Mexico when roasting. I lived in NM for 45 years so I am very familiar with Hatch green chile. Living in Tennessee now I have to get chile shipped and unfortunately this batch was disappointing.

My chiles arrived in great condition. I actually saw our grocery store carried them this year but they were nowhere near as beautiful as the chiles in my boxes. We roasted them, packed some up to freeze and made the best chile verde ever! Medium-Hot was a good starter for us but next year I think I will up the heat a little! We like it spicy!
