“I was skeptical about this product at first because it claims to do so much. But it's all true:
-Putting a square in a tank (not even in filter) works to absorb waste. I tested this and even not near flowing water the square turned black. In one of my tanks with lots of debris, the debris clings to it.
-Cleans algae off glass, algae gets trapped in pad. This is true, in fact it works amazing!
-Reduces maintenance by absorbing waste - very true, my tank with large sheet cut into canister hasn't got over 5ppm nitrates since I started using poly-filter. Before it was usually 20ppm+
The pad is more than a fine filter pad, it seems to have some sort of embedded resin in it which must be the part that absorbs the chemicals. Don't mistake this for overpriced fine filter pad, it's a chemical media in mechanical media's clothing. (Although it does also work as mechanical media too)
Bottom line, it is expensive, but it is more than worth it. I recommend this to anyone!”
