When you lower the flow rate, it's actually re-circulating water though the filter media chamber, so a slower flow rate gives way more contact time with media. The main filter compartment is HUGE at 10 x 19 x 25 CM usable space. You can remove the supplied filter media and put anything you want in there. I love it.”
