“The crab was massive and I got an amazing amount of white meat from it in spite of the fact that the lobster probes I ordered did not arrive. However there was no dark meat whatsoever to use as the body shell was just full of water. I did make a crab omelette but had to buy some dark meat from Waitrose. Lovely crab sandwiches though. I’d rather have had a smaller crab with both meat types .”

Hi Joan, Thank you for your feedback. We're happy to hear you did manage to get a good amount of sweet white meat. We sell male cock crabs which are known for being more abundant in their white meat than brown. It’s actually the female hen crabs that are traditionally used for picking the brown meat. That said we've passed on your feedback to our team about the body being full of water, seasonal factors can cause each to be absent of brown meat but naturally it’s impossible to confirm until opened. We do sell both types of meat individually too, but totally understand the joy of picking a crab yourself :) Kind Regards, Diana
