“I wish I could actually receive Morecambe Bay Oysters. I have ordered them several times now, only to receive some really poor substitute oysters. I won't bother ordering them next time.”

Hi Bridget, Thanks for your review and I'm sorry you have been disappointed on more than one occasion with substitutions. Looking at the timings of your orders I can see you have been particularly unlucky when ordering these. There have been two temporary unforeseen disruptions to the supply of Morecambe Bay oysters this year. The first was due to poor water quality caused by high levels of rainwater runoff, and the second was due to a packaging issue. Occasionally unexpected issues mean that we have to look for alternate supplies to fulfill orders, but we always make sure that the same (or higher) quality product is used and where a cheaper product is substituted, we will always refund the difference back to your account. “A number of the oysters had opened releasing the juices that had in turn soaked the packaging, including the gin box. The damage was only aesthetic to the gin but we chose not to risk eating the 3 open oysters.”

Hi Robert, Thanks for taking the time to review the Morecambe Bay Oysters. Oysters in the UK are graded by size 1 - 4, 1 being the largest and 4 the smallest. Our Morecambe Bay oysters are size 4, which although being at the smaller end of the scale, represent good value for money and are a convenient delicate one mouthful size. We also sell size 3 Jersey Oysters which are slightly larger and are looking into possibly stocking larger sizes too.
