Very good polyphonic octaver, with particular personnality. It's not sounding like a groovy Boss OC2. The sound of the octaves has a Warble loudness on the -1 and kind of trembling sparkle +1. Hungry Robot define this pedal having an old organ caracter near to a Leslie warble, from where got the name of The Monastery. Before chosing this pedal you should watch rewiew of it. It is very inspiraring for playing ambient and meditating sounds, with delay or reverb. I have this pedal on pedalboard and also a OC2 like, because it's not doing the same job. Just a little bit of natural latency, damned good tracking, even with polyphonics and chords. The controls are way so easy, evident and offer two presets : thanks Hungry Robot ! The bottom line of two knobs correspond to the first preset (top led off), the upper two knobs .... you got it : second preset and top led on. Very different with others octave pedals. The left footswitch turns on or bypass the pedal, the right footswitch switch between the two preset. So good to have two possibilities of settings ready under your foot. The control are simple : left knob for blending dry and wet signal, right knob for balance between -1 and +1 octave. Very good and special pedal, but not with an evident role to play. I think it's analog, but not sure.

Excellent sounding pedal, overall! You can get some fantastic tones out of it in such a small package. Being able to blend the two settings is nice. Compared to similar products, it’s fantastic (or superior) quality for a great price. Great aesthetics for shoegazers! I would like a way to adjust the modulation depth (or be able to turn it off) and vibrato rate. The fact that it’s always on with absolutely no option, or even an internal DIP switch, is a huge bummer. My only other complaint is that the two channels cannot act independently of each other, meaning you have to have the first channel (pedal ON) for the second channel to work. But, considering that a modded certain other pedal costs a whole lot more... do the math and weigh the pros and cons for yourself!
