“I have had the smaller Third Gear top box one on my bike for a while but needed a little more space to carry my laptop and other stuff. Based on my experience with the smaller one i didn't hesitate to get another Third Gear box. I went on easily (but not on the same universal adapter the smaller box uses). Works a treat and great value for the price. Delivery was fast too!”
“Pretty average quality. Top doesn't line up with bottom. Forcing you to use two hands to close the lid. Extremely irritating. Also extremely difficult to remove box from bike (yes when unlocked)”
“The top box was ordered on Friday and incredibly arrived on Monday - very fast turnaround.
The box is of a great quality considering the price. The only negative is that there is a little bit of movement between the box and the box base plate. This causes some rattling noises while riding. I have been able to fix this with a thin piece of foam rubber between the box and plate to reduce the movement.
I was able to easily secure the box base plate to the B and B metal luggage plate on my Yamaha XT660Z Tenere.
Honestly for the price I don't think you can do better - and it is so much cheaper than a givi / shad system.”
“Purchased the large 52l top box which is excellent value for money. Took a bit of effort to install but now looks good. Being lighter srtucture allows some distortion if over filled. Needed to make slight adjustments to the catch as clearances were too tight. Otherwise excellent value for money and supply times from 3rd gear.”
