Not very happy with this purchase. The tiles are great but half of them were broken. I now need to order more to make up for the broken one. Not great

Look good, but a very, very hard ceramic to work with. We use new cutting blades & wheels on every job as part of our pricing process for clients, these tiles chipped very easily when cutting wet & using the dry cutter we wasted a few tiles due to the cutting characteristics of the tile. The customer is delighted, with what we've done with them, but the additional labour we had to invoice for cutting the things would have made it more economical to buy a more expensive / more workable tile locally. We bought the matching mosaics as well, they are a bit hit & miss in terms of quality & consistent sizing was had to achieve due to each mosaic sheet being a differing size. The delivery was booked & arrived without warning 6 days early to site just as the client was leaving for the airport. In fairness, Pallex sent some flowers to the client as a sorry & were very apologetic, but, only after we fired a rocket into Tile Mountain. We never received an explanation as to why the tiles arrived early - made us look very unprofessional given we pride ourselves on getting it right. At checkout, we were asked to submit a voucher code, there are some on the net, but they did not work, also Tile Mountain stated they did not issue codes. A week later, an email arrives offering additional discount for a minimum spend with a voucher code. I'm sure if you're on a budget, these tiles & the company will work for you, from an installer perspective, we'd always point you to our local independent suppliers for frankly a better product & a service we are more in control of as the tradesman. Would we use & recommend Tile Mountain? No.

This is a review of both Tile Mountain as a company, and the product we were supplied Bluenorte Outdoor slab tiles (20mm, 605x605mm). Ordering was relatively easy, Tile Mountain's website makes it easy to order either by m2 or number of tiles, and I was prompted with a discount on adhesive/grout etc which I took advantage of. We were able to choose a delivery date to suit. Delivery was advertised as kerbside, yet the delivery driver wanted assistance to put the pallets next to the kerb due to their weight. We were lucky a contractor was available at the time to assist. If one person couldn't move the pallets to kerbside, then the delivery should've been made with two people. All tiles provided were from the same batch, however when we started to lay them, our contractor discovered that a large proportion (about 90%) were not square, but were 2mm longer in one direction than the other. More than that, the sides were not flat and square, and so laying them with a thin minimal grout line, as they were advertised to work with, became almost impossible. My contractor is spending more than double the time carefully orientating each individual tile to minimize impact of the dimensional issues. Whatever he does, there will not be straight 2mm grout lines as intended, due to the misshapen tiles. I reported this to Tile Mountain as soon as it was discovered. They required significant detail before being willing to respond to my query. When they did respond, they confirmed that items in their stockroom had the same dimensional issues. Their response: Our Quality Control team have been down in the warehouse checking the stock of the same batch you have received. They have replicated the issues that you have reported with the tile size, and although this would not fall outside of acceptable British Standard Tolerance levels, it is not something that we have come across before with any of the tiles that we supply. Without consultation with us, they decided to refund £100 (of a £2000 order) and offered no further compensation or resolution to the problem. Our contractor will be charging us additional time for the work, which will be far in excess of £100. I note that when the tiles were partially installed they suggested not installing anymore but if we had done that the resulting delay and rework to remove laid tiles would have undoubtedly cost even more so we chose to proceed with laying the tiles. We are left both out of pocket and unhappy with the service and product provided to us by Tile Mountain.

Sadly Topps Tiles had sold out of these so we had to pay the very expensive delivery charge instead of using Click & Collect for two boxes of these and the drivers refused to take the pallet away, beware!

Paid to have a full tile sample sent and liked what we saw so ordered 8m2 to go around a shower (3 walls) first delivery, on checking, all tiles except 3 had damage (chipped). A full replacement order was arranged and when this arrived there was obvious damage externally so no hope for the tiles enclosed, so allowed collection and refused new delivery. had to go to local tile supplier and pick something there as had already delayed tiler enough. Have to say customer service was excellent and prompt refund arranged but out of pocket for sample and wasted time on 2 deliveries. Would think twice before ordering online again. These tiles have no protection to stop them rubbing in transit.

I ordered 16 tiles (which arrived in a small box) where the price of shipping and handling was £9.99p. which seemed resonable, considering weight and the distance. Unfortuatey I found I was short by 3 tiles. I therefore had to re-order them. The price of shipping and handling came to £7.99p. They came in a massive box presented as samples surrounded by chunks of polystyrene. I think a smaller box with less undesirable packaging would have made the cost far less and more environmentally friendly. Beware! Ian Saunders Eastbourne Sussex.
