Introduction to Woodturning - Simon Begg - January 21st and 22nd 2023 Simon started turning in high school and after only one bowl he was hooked. Now he is turning full-time, making big steps in his early career. His works are in a number of galleries in Australia and all over the world. This is a 2-day workshop for students who wish to develop their skills in woodturning. The student will be introduced to the foundations of turning. Simon discusses the basics of spindle turning and bowl turning. Students will have their own lathe and plenty of hands-on time to work on a range of projects. The skills taught will include turning between centres, using faceplates, and how to turn a bowl and platter. Tools used will include both traditional turning chisels and carbide turning chisels.
