Heiwa “KID” Natsu no Shippu Reviews

5 Rating 2 Reviews
Another easy drinking sake from KID that is perfect for the summer. Compared to the KID junmai I have tried, this sake is lighter and refreshing for these hot summer months. There are notes of rice, mint, and pear which work well together to craft a fantastic brew.

If you’ve read my other reviews you know I believe most of the sake available in the US is very good to excellent. I also believe good sake pairs well with almost anything. After having too much food for lunch one day I didn’t want much food for dinner but I DID want some nihonshu and this one was chilled and close to hand. The ginjo-ness of this kid was excellent and paired well with popcorn (no butter, no salt, although I think it would also work with both) and peanut butter bread (Jiff crunchy, but smooth would probably be just as good). This sake’s abundant lacticity also matched my Dairy Queen Buster Bar (seriously), but not on the same night.-- Chef’s Apprentice.
