“Mizuho Kuromatsu Kenbishi is the gold standard for this type of rich, full-bodied, ambient yeast yamahai brew. So famous and longstanding that the brewery doesn’t even need to advertise. This is the saké kura 酒蔵when tradition matters. Strong, bold, and seductive drink this chilled or at room temperature. Proudly serve this to guests who you truly appreciate and want to impress. It makes a wonderful gift too. One of my very favorite pure rice saké 山廃日本酒. Highly recommended. LaMonte Heflick, ASP Saké Education Council (John Gauntner), certified Feb 2014”
“This was a very interesting sake with a deep array of flavors. It is not my preferred style but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. I would definitely recommend this one to be drunk at room temperature or even slightly warmed. Since it's an aged sake, do not expect the delicate or crisp flavors of some other junmai sakes, but this is one that can hold its own with heavier meats or other hearty dishes.”
“I was introduced to this sake at an Omakase bar in NYC, Cagen, during an Anniversary dinner. My eyes lit up on first sip. Probably the best sake I have ever tasted (not to say that I've tasted or remember many). I asked the server to write down the name for me so I can buy a bottle, which led me to discover tippsy. I tasted it room temperature during my meal, but am looking forward to chilling it a bit at home and allowing it to warm to room temp as I go through the bottle, like another review suggests. I knew I had to order 2 bottles right away, and am sure I'll be adding a bottle to each order going forward.”
“Rich, full-body, deep, famous Yamahai flavor from one of Japan’s oldest standing sake breweries. So well known that they really don’t need to advertise. Buy it. Try it. This is what premium Nihonshu has to offer us. Lucky us.”
“Mizuho Kuromatsu Kenbishi Yamahai is very special sake that everyone should try for its unique and always evolving flavors at different temperatures. Highly recommended.”
