“We LOVE this sake. We found it by chance a few months ago at a tiny liquor store on the Big Island of Hawaii and were so grateful to be able to purchase it on Tippsy's website! It is a wonderful pear sake with a spicy kick. Very unique and tastes amazing. It is sweet, so if you do not care for sweet sakes, this one is not for you.”
Hi Angela,
Thank you so much for your review.
Ginkobai “Hannya Tou” is really great balance of sake, so it must be pair with grilled meat. It taste with plum a little bit after you drink it.
If you like to this sake, I recommend Okunomatsu which is light sake.
“Excellent. I haven't had it for a few years as not many places carry it. But I was over the moon finding this at an affordable price. I left the bottle in the fridge and then pour the chilled drink over ice in a small glass. Delicious. If you're not a fan of spice, you will NOT like this alone. I would recommend as part of a mixed drink. The subtle spice and sweetness is like a dream. Recommend it for cold or warm months!”
Hi Theresa Y,

Thank you so much for your review.
“I serve my Hannya Tou chilled. the first taste that you experience is a smooth and slightly sweet taste followed by a spicy, peppery finish on your palate which invites you to take another sip. It's an excellent and unique product.”
Hi Kevin.
Thank you so much for your a lot of review.
Yes. Ginkobai “Hannya Tou” is smooth and slightly sweet taste sake.
So, it is pair with some spicy foods or fish meal.
If you would like to drink some different taste, you can find it on our website. I hope you will find it soon!
Tank you so much!
“What a disappointment. I don’t know if it is just this recent production, but the bottle I received is nothing like what I read I the reviews. I am a lover of spicy food, including hot salsa and wasabi. This sake tasted like fire laced with plum wine. The sake was both stick-sweet and so spicy I could not drink it. I managed to drink about 4oz before having to stop to protect the lining of my stomach.”
We are sorry you didn't enjoy Ginkobai "Hannya Tou". It's definitely a spice that is more like cayenne pepper and not like wasabi, a bit different from Mexican food as well. We earnestly appreciate your feedback. Chilling it or serving it over ice may help if it feels too fire-y to you, and it's also an excellent product to enhance flavors of cocktails - maybe even soak fruits in them to lessen the spice for Halloween. So we hope you find ways to have fun with it. That is the only spicy plum wine that we carry, but if you're looking for some more depth and layers into the plum flavor without the spice, we might suggest you try the Sawanotsuru "Plum Sake" https://www.tippsysake.com/collections/flavored/products/sawanotsuru-plum-sake
