“Kinokuniya Bunzaemon “Junmai Ginjo” was a bit sweeter than I expected (if this is supposed to be ‘moderately’ sweet, then extremely sweet sake must be like syrup). I served it cold. It’s totally clear, with just a tiny hint of pale yellow. You can smell the richness. On the tongue, the sweetness hits first, but then it quickly fades to a buttery popcorn flavor. Closer to banana, melon, or pear than other flavors. I could not detect the licorice that Tippsy describes. If you like sweet sake that quickly fades to a more “traditional” sake taste, this one is good. It is indeed “rich.” Serve it with food that has bold flavors. I used to live near this brewery. I could imagine sneaking in this bottle to have with grilled seafood from the nearby Kuroshio Market.”
