Born “Gold” Reviews

4.8 Rating 42 Reviews
I LIKE different profiles in Sake: Born 'Gold' is in the clean and somewhat dry profile. It is refreshing served chilled and a bit of the rice grain flavor comes through. It is also versatile in pairing with chicken, seafood, or pork. I will add this to my monthly rotation.

Prior to this bottle, there has not been a sweeter styled sake that I have not absolutely loved. With the first sip, this had me wondering if I finally found one that was too sweet for me. It has a light, almost fruity nose and is rich and smooth to drink. The taste is also fruit like, but I was left wanting more of that dry bite I am used to experiencing and enjoy. Is this a well crafted sake that I would recommend you try, certainly. Personal tastes are subjective after all and it has a lot going for it. As another reviewer mentioned in their comments, mine would also benefit from a partial star as I would put this closer to five stars than a four, but it did not make it all the way for me. I drank this chilled and on its own, but could see this really shining with the right meal as the food could compliment this sake and bring some balance to the prominent sweetness.

Rich like "gold", smooth on the palate with a sweet finish to end!

A pleasant and classic tasting sake. The flavor is on the heavier side, but it smooths out at the end of a sip. Easy to drink and enjoy.

I wish the reviews could include half stars because I would likely rate this closer to a 4.5. Really loved sipping on this with some Paive and cracker.

So bright and fresh! Really good sake to introduce to friends who have never tried it before, especially if they like wine. Had it with salmon and was delicious!
