36" Backhoe Thumb Hoe Clamp 5/8" Steel Plate Assembly Weld On Adjustable Reviews

The 36-inch Weld-On Backhoe Thumb is perfect for anyone that needs to add a high-quality thumb to their excavator. Simply weld it to your boom, and it's ready for work. When not in use, you can just remove the teeth bars and store them away. Made from heavy-duty 5/8" thick steel plates, this pro-duty implement is ready for just about any job. Please measure your bucket before ordering to ensure a proper match— a mismatched thumb can result in damage to your backhoe, as larger backhoes tend to have more bucket force. For example: if you mount a 25” thumb on a hoe that requires a 31” thumb, you can potentially bend or break your equipment. Make sure that this thumb is at least the length of your bucket when measured from boom to the teeth— your warranty may be voided if damage occurs.

The weld on thumb is a beast and adds another dimension to my Case 580E. The only challenge was not having any instructions on where to place the thumb. I looked online at images showing where others placed the thumb and used the middle of the road location. It seems to work fine for what I do. I love it!

Reasonably easy install. Heavy. Chose not to install the keeper. storing the third leg in my equipment box. Mostly because the third leg has to be removed and re-pinned to store. Not a complaint. Packing leaves a bit to be desired, the styrofoam forms disintegrated in shipment leaving a mess to clean up. Closed cell foam would work better and probably remain intact.

I think the thumb is a good add on for my back-hoe. I have to straighten the arm out to make it work.

You need to send some instructions or at least a drawing, It took a while to figure out where the small cuff should go

I recently purchased this 36” backhoe thumb took me a little while to find the time to install. I installed said item and upon the first use I picked up a small log to stack on a pile and the thumb bent over to the side quite bad. The unit is still useable but looks bad. I am very dissatisfied with my purchase. I am a professional welder and equipment operator with over 30 years experience in both. I’ve ran lots of excavators/backhoes with both Hydraulic and static thumbs and have never seen one distort so easily.
