24" Weld On Backhoe Thumb Attachment Reviews

4.3 Rating 39 Reviews
Read Titan Attachments Reviews

The 24" weld on backhoe thumb from Titan Attachments is perfect for anyone that needs to add a high quality thumb to their excavator. Simply weld it to the boom and its ready for work. When not in use, you can just unpin it and store it away. Made from heavy duty 1/2" thick steel plates, this pro-duty implement is ready for just about any job. Please measure your bucket before ordering to ensure a proper match. A mismatched thumb will result in damage to your backhoe, as larger backhoes have more bucket force. For example: if you mount a 25" thumb on a hoe that requires a 31" one, you will probably bend or break your equipment. Make sure that this thumb is at least the length of your bucket when measured from boom to the teeth or the warranty may voided if damage occurs.

The item itself is fine. Attaching it to the backhoe is problematic. I stitch welded with 6011 and covered with 7018, making sure to check the pins often. The pins fit perfectly. However, the thumb part needs a 5" width on the mount and the welding splayed the mount to 5 3/4". Now it will require heating and bending back to acceptable measure. If it was done again clamps would be to try to keep the mount from warping. So be warned.

Although it seems well made. you have to modify it in order to get it to"fold" out of the way, and, also make it to "lock" in the (out of the way) upright position. When I called and asked "How do I fold it up out of the way?" the answer I got was "When the unit is properly installed it DOES NOT fold out of the way" which is NOT TRUE.

Holes were crooked and didn’t line up. Could not stow thumb away.

The only reason I gave 2star rating is because the thumb WILL NOT fold up and pin out of the way, it has to be removed and kept track of for future use, very poor design. I initially thought my thumb had the holes drilled in the wrong place so I contacted palletforks.com only to be told the thumb IS NOT designed to pin out of the way and they thanked me for contacting them lol. The holes are only 1/2" off set, I will weld and redrill SO the thumb will pin out of the way. If you require the thumb to move out of the way look elsewhere.

Thumb adjustment brace could be about 3 to 4 inches longer to allow a better pinch

It works great! Can pick up and hold tree trunks, large piece of broken up concrete, anything heavy you want put move, hold up or put in a truck.

Well built thumb. But when you go to retract the jaw plate to the stow position the holes are about a half inch off. The old thumb I had would retract into the mount and you could pin it in that position with out taking the jaw plate off. Other wise I would give a five.
