Hitch-Mounted Ripper Reviews

4.5 Rating 81 Reviews
Read Titan Attachments Reviews

This single-tine ripper conditions soil and creates trenches for laying water lines, wires, and hoses. Attach it to any ATV, UTV, or Cat 0/Cat 1 tractor with a 2" hitch and rip through tough, compact soil with ease with the replaceable shank and reversible carbon steel tooth. Two height adjustment options allow you to easily adjust the digging depth, with the attachment measuring either 14.25" or 16.25" from the center of the hitch to the tip of the ripper. Constructed with thick powder-coated steel and quality welding, this lightweight ripper comes with a shear bolt to protect your attachment and your machine when encountering hard dirt or hidden rocks - and has 3" of steel past the pin hole when installed to ensure a secure fit and to prevent wobbling.

I have this mounted to my Ford 8n Titan attachment with a 2” receiver. Once buried in deep it takes a lot or can bog out the tractor in 1st gear. Sheared the shear pin on the first few pulls but did a bunch more and never sheared since. For a atv I would say 4 wheel drive around 20hp or very low gears and weight on the machine. My tractor weighs in at 2200lbs.

The Ripper - Trencher works fine for the project we needed it for... Trenching a narrow channel in the ground to place a communication wired multi conductor cable. The unit needed to be lengthed prior to the trenching project. However, the Ripper is a very tough piece of equipment.

As a basic subsoiler, it works fairly well. On a 3 point setup , I can only get it in the ground about 10”. It’s a straight chisel point cutter, so it rips the trench rather than a smooth cut that a plow shaped point would do. As long as the soil has some moisture, should do OK. If you are laying cable as I used this for, adding a 90 degree tube to the rear of the cutter to feed cable would certainly help, especially if doing some distance. I had to hand trench some to clean enough to drop cable in. It did cut right through some roots I had, as well as some rock.It does have a shear bolt ( the bottom bolt) in case you hit something really hard. It’s worth the price.
