“Ordered the 3PH bale spear attachment with 43" spear. I have 4' x 6' diameter round bales so I thought the 43" length should be about right. I didn't see dimensions on the site regarding the spear length on this attachment, so I assumed 43" must be the usable length of the spear. When I received the overall length of the spear, from tip to end of the threaded portion was 39.5". It only stuck out beyond the 2" receiver hitch maybe 33" or so, which wouldn't work well for 48" deep bales. Also I could not get a standard lynch pin through the CAT1 lifting pins, the holes were too small. I sent a picture showing the 39.5" length to the factory, they acted like they didn't trust I knew how to read a tape measure so they wanted another view showing both ends of the tape. Once they realized I DO know how to read a tape measure, they said yes we must have sent you the wrong spear. I offered to just pay the ~$20 upgrade, please go ahead and send me the 49" spear instead of the 43" spear since I now realize how these are measured. They said can't do, I need to order on a separate order the 49" spear, then they will issue a return on the spear that is too short. I ordered the 49" spear, it arrived a couple days ago. The reply I got back was that I had to return the original bale spear (that they shipped to me incorrectly) as well as the stabillizer bars, the two shorter spears on either side. I said there is nothing wrong with the two stabilizer bars, I just want to send the main spear back. And as far as the lift pins, they said that I should be able to go to any farm store and just buy smaller lynch pins that fit. Got tired of messing with that issue so bought CAT2 lift pins from Orscheln. I have also read other reviews that the dimension between the top link pin and lifting pins is too close together, which doesn't allow the bale to lift high enough. I haven't got that far yet to see if that is an issue. This has been bouncing back and forth with customer service now for a couple weeks. Frustrating.”

“great product but a longer spear would be optimal. the hitch receiver takes a few inches of spear length which is needed when moving over bumpy ground. i will order a longer spear.”
