“Ordered this rack a few months ago and am very pleased. Sturdy rack with no wobble even on pullups or dips. No issues or concerns on paint or appearance of it. Would recommend the X3 line of racks to anyone as an affordable option with commercial gym quality. With the plethora of attachments available, I can do a great variety of workouts centered around this one piece of equipment. One slight con with the rack is that I wish I would have ordered the tall version just so I could do pullups without bending my knees (I'm 5'9). Still serves every purpose imaginable that you could want from a rack”
“Easy to put together and very sturdy. Didn't have any movement at all after adding weight storage and weights. Doesn't rock at all during pull ups. 30" depth doesn't feel cramped in there at all. Only thing I noticed is the coating on the rack gets scratched easily. Very happy with it for the value. Probably doesn't look as great as other rack that cause 3 to 4 times more but hey if you only care about lifting weights this is the best bang for your buck. Oh yeah, does not need to be mounted down which is a Plus”
“I waited roughly 8 months to write this review, as I wanted to have a lot of experience with this rack, so that I could provide honest feedback.
The rack arrived in 4 boxes, looking like they had been chewed up and spit out by fedex. On the plus side, it didn't ship freight, so it only took 3 days to get to me in NYC. The boxes were extremely heavy and unwieldy, to the point that it was quite a workout just getting them to my basement. You will want a friend, and a furniture moving dolly to make this part easier.
Assembly was complicated by the fact that no instructions were included, nor was a pdf available. I contacted Titan's support line, and was emailed a correct manual. Once this was taken care of, assembly took roughly 90 minutes, and was accomplished by me alone, though again a friend would have significantly eased the burden.
I consider 3 by 3 uprights with 5/8" hole spacing to be the best of both worlds, as you get the increased sturdiness of a larger upright, along with the ability for westside hole spacing. This comes in handy when setting up for bench, as the potential for adjusting your safeties by as little as one inch allows you to really dial it in and customize the rack to your body.
The rack's flatfoot features are another great selling point, as it is very sturdy without the need for drilling into concrete. The rack barely moves while I do pullups, be they strict or kipping (though I feel kipping defeats the purpose, and is often a source of great ZERO).
If you thought this review would be all sunshine and rainbows though, you were wrong. The rack has a few problems, though most were easily rectified. The first of these is the fact that no weight storage is included. This effectively increases the price by another 50$, assuming one purchases two pairs of J-hook style weight pegs. Secondly, the pull-up bars are too short for me to do pull-ups (I'm 5'9") without bending at the knees. This issue is not really Titan's fault, as the information on the height of the rack is easily available, and should be taken into account. Finally, the westside spacing makes it difficult to line up the J-cups and pipe safeties, as no numbering system is included. This problem was easily fixed with the aid of a white sharpie marker, with which I numbered every third hole from the start of the Westside region.
The rack's powder coat has held up to the job, concealing all but a few dings and scratches. I'm not a fan of the included safeties, and feel that it's worth upgrading to the flip downs or safety straps.
Overall, the Titan X-3 is a great value, and the few problems it presents are easily enough fixed. I should give it a 4.5, but as that isn't an option I'm rounding up to a 5 star review. Great Job Titan!”
“I re-searched a lot of racks and settled on the x3 short flat foot. I couldn't be happier. It very solid, this thing is built like a tank. It arrived in good shape. It's quality is everything I hoped for. You can grab hold of it and try to shake it, it doesn't move. I will be buying more from titan in the weeks to come.”
“Solid rack at an amazing price. Build quality is decent, but some pieces do not quite fit where they are supposed to so some brute force may be needed. Weld quality also looks like it was done by a 12 year old. But for me, the aesthetics of the rack really aren't a big deal. Lot of customization available for the rack. My biggest complaint is that the j-hooks both face the same direction, rather than opposite directions. This is not optimal for safety, and it also gets in the way if you are trying to put storage pegs on the side of your rack. Overall, that is actually my biggest gripe, especially because it can so easily be fixed. Rack has little to no wobble, which is great if you are not able to bolt it down.”
“Absolutely EXCELLENT Rack! Very Solid, Very Stable and Very functional! Oh yeah...also a GREAT price! Pay no attention to anyone who says the welds are sub-standard! It looks great and works great. Besides, even if there is an imperfect weld, who cares?! It's weight rack! (you won't be complaining about a weld after saving 50%) Bottom line; Unless you are an Olympic Power lifter, this thing is stronger and more solid than you will ever need, but you'll LOVE knowing it can handle whatever you throw at it.
I couldn't be happier with this purchase and couldn't recommend it any higher. Worth it. BUY IT!”
“This a great power rack fits well under my 7ft porch. The one thing that did cause me to be more careful were the j-hooks that come with it. The basic j hooks it comes with are ok, but if its a new Olympic barbell with a lot of oil, it may slip a little easier. I'm thinking to buy the new j-hooks for this rack and that will solve the problem.”
“Like everyone else said, this is a nice piece of kit.
Just a few things:
I am 6'4' and just barely get under the pull-up bar without hitting my head. Doing pull-ups requires my knees to be bent about 70 degrees or my toes drag.
Another reviewer (Brian) said that all the bolts are the same. They're not. There are two sizes, the longer of which attach the uprights to the '˜flat foot' base. Someone should tell Brian that half of his gusset plate bolts are hanging on by two threads because he neglected to read the parts list.
I'm excited to keep using this rack. It's the perfect size for my needs, and it's rock solid. No hesitation recommending this to anyone.”
