Linebacker Squat Landmine Attachment Reviews

4.4 Rating 60 Reviews
Read Titan Fitness Reviews

This Landmine attachment is ideal for squatting without the fear of balancing a bar on your shoulders. The 7" to 11" squat pads provide a firm and stable feel while performing squats and deadlifts. The rotating handles have a spread of 19" and allow many types of pulling, pushing, and rotational exercises while keeping the wrists in a safe, neutral position. Installation is seamless, slide and tighten over your Olympic barbell, load up on your choice of Olympic bumper plates, and start pushing your workout to the next level. Bolster your strength-training routine by adding linebacker squats, v-style squats, hack squats, overhead presses, and more!
NOTE: Titan recommends resting the product on the ground to load plates before pairing with the landmine stand. This will prevent spinning during the plate-loading process.

Although, a well constructed piece of equipments, it is difficult to load plates on side attachments while on the accompanied stand. I was told to load the unit on the ground, then transfer to the stand. Unit still has tendency to spin which does not translate well to a smooth workout sequence for some exercises that require weight plate changes. Also, the loading pins will not secure weight plates without special collars that fit the 'unique' size of the slightly smaller pins. The small tweaks required to fix these shortcomings would go far to make this a real 'go to' training item, giving it more flexibility and increasing a trainee's exercise syllabus. Given it's current restrictions, and for my desired uses, it has fallen short of my expectations. But, for others who simply desire it for it's somewhat limited applications, it may be fine. I have other Titan equipment, that I have found much more to my liking, I'm afraid. Still feel that Titan is a good company, and provides a good 'bang for the buck' in the other equipment that I have purchase from them.

I purchased this attachment with the stand as part of their black Friday promotion. The packaging was actually really good, I've bought several titan products (multi grip bar, tri bar, steel club, ssb v2) and with each order it seems as though the packaging and shipping has improved. People have often had problems with damage on delivery so it warrants mentioning that titan has made a lot of progress in that regard. Despite the improvement, there were several sratches on the attachment right out of the box. The stand had a nice durable powder coat and arrived in perfect condition so it is a little disappointing that the same coating was not applied to the linebacker accessory. I would've gladly paid a little extra for the added durability, and improved look. Assembly was pretty straight forward, but I did puncture the bottom of one of the shoulder pads while tightening the bolts. It didn't take much, and it has me a little worried about the durability long term. Overall the functionality, and quality (aside from the finish) seems really great. I bought it because my basement gym has low ceilings and overhead press exercises were all but impossible with a barbell. This allowed me to add cleans, standing overhead presses and thrusters to my routine and that made the purchase worth it for me. I also really like the feel of squatting with the landmine as the movement plane feels very comfortable. I did find hack squats to be a little awkward as the handles felt too far away at the top, or the pads would hit my calfs at the bottom. Deadlifts would seem fine, but I don't see this replacing my hex bar anytime soon. Now for the bad news. Beyond the finish, the biggest issue with the accessory is the weight horns. I am hoping titan, or someone else can explain to me why in the world they would make the horns 1.9" instead of 2", thus rendering 99% of all Olympic collars obsolete. Coupled with the fact that it is very difficult to load without spinning, not having a secure, tight fitting collar is flat out dangerous. I ordered some snap collars in hopes of mitigating the problem, but really makes no sense. I am also planning on dropping some kind of rope/chain from the ceiling to help stabilize during plate loading, but for now I have just relied on loading the barbell. I would absolutely recommend the product. Its pretty well built (except for the finish and suspect shoulder pad construction/material), provides a lot of functionality and is an absolute must have for garage gyms with low clearance that would otherwise restrict overhead movements. Just keep in mind that you'll have to purchase some specialty collars, and figure out a safe way to load it if you intend to use the stand.

I love doing landmine squats as the movement pattern feels very natural. However, if you train alone, there is no way to load the weight posts without the bar spinning to one side, if you use the landmine stand as I do. I overlooked this obvious fact at the time I placed my order, unfortunately. So, you'd either need to load the weight posts from the floor, which limits how much weight you can use and defeats the purpose of having a landmine stand, or load the weight onto the sleeve of the barbell, which will limit you to five or six 45 lbs plates. That may not be enough for stronger lifters. For me it is fine as landmine squats are more of a finisher and I do them for higher reps. I ended up taking the side posts off as I wasn't using them and it obviously reduces the bulk of the unit. It is still a worthwhile purchase, as it also includes Viking Press handles. Just be aware of its limitations.

Here is a review that I wrote in September 2018 about the previous version: I finally got the missing hardware to assemble this yesterday, 3 weeks and 2 days, after receiving an incomplete order(box was open when it arrived). I still don't have the bushings for the wishbone handles. I have to agree with the one reviewer...the pads are spread too far apart! I have broad shoulders and I have to go to the very front of this thing...and it still is too big, I would NOT recommend this to a narrow shoulders man or a woman! It is built for someone with Lee Haney's shoulders! Also, the fact that you are limited to 5 steel plates max is a problem, too! If Titan corrects these mistakes on a version 2 and has a price point around 200 hundred dollars, they will corner the market, as the competition's prices for these are obscene! That version was crap! I was so disappointed! I stopped using it cuz it would hang off my broad shoulders. That month I was going to buy a linebacker squat attachment for 375 dollars from Gorilla strength, until I realized theirs had no back handles. I am so glad I didn't and so glad Titan listened! They even priced it lower that what I hoped they would!

So I got this attachment to add some variety into my leg days. This allows me to really lean back into hack squats so there's more emphasis on my quatds. It does come with some pros and cons: Pros: - Price of course. Only other attachment that comes close is from PurMotion and it runs around $500. - Easy to put together - Shoulder pad width works great for me - Locking nut is heavier duty than on the v1 version of the viking press attachment - Can use it for all kinds of squat variations plus single or double RDL's or even trap bar / car deadlift variations Cons: - Unfortunately I got one from a batch where the handles do not fit into the bearings. I contacted Titan and they were very helpful. They gave me the option of either getting a full refund or I could keep it and get refunded 40% of the price and they'll send me instructions on how to fix the problem myself. I choose the latter and they refunded me $60 in points that I put towards another purchase. This is my first time every having a problem with any of their equipment so I put that $60 towards their new trap bar. To fix the issue I just had to file down the base of the tapped portion of the handle. That little bur is what was preventing it from sliding into the bearing. - Loading this thing can be tricky if you have it suspended off the ground. You need to make sure you have your plates close by because this thing will spin. Not really a fault of the attachment, just basic physics. All in all I'm happy with my purchase. However if you do happen to get one where the handles don't fit, I can see how this would be very frustrating. I'm still giving this 5 stars though since the fix wasn't too drastic and I was able to get it done with a $3 metal file from Walmart.
