“Why do you need this rack/basket? CONVENIENCE. For hauling modest volumes of cargo, debris (think tree limbs, twigs, rocks, and trash – things I have to frequently go out and pick up prior to mowing on a large property with lots of trees), this sure beats having to hook up a trailer every time, or spend time bungee cording / strapping down your stuff in creative and effective ways to prevent things from vibrating and/or rolling off a simple flat rack. I simply drop this basket on the securing pins of the included support rack, insert quick release pins I bought to replace the included mounting bolts, and I’m off and running. With this system, attaching and removing the basket takes all of 1-2 minutes, TOPS! At the end of this review, I include links and descriptions of the items I purchased to facilitate easy attachment and removal of the basket. For me, finding the right basket to buy was quite a challenge. There are quite a few choices. One in particular had me interested because it claimed the basket was easily removable, but it got terrible reviews. This item got good to great reviews, and is a great value by comparison. My choice to buy this rack and basket would have been much easier if the description had mentioned using the drop-on securing pins used to hang the basket on the support rack. Installation: The ATV I have is a 2019 Yamaha Grizzly. I used the two included 11.75” mounting plates to attach the basket support rack to the ATV’s rack. I couldn’t find a good way to use any of the other mounting plates/bars, but they aren’t needed - it is plenty secure with just those two plates. I believe that Titan does an admirable job of including a variety of mounting plates and options to try and support the multitude of different ATV racks in existence. Providing an end-all, be-all mounting solution for every single ATV rack out there would be rather impossible. Installation issues: 1. I had to drill and make oblong one hole on the basket to get it to align with the support rack. 2. I used a LARGE crescent wrench and towel (for padding not to damage the basket/paint) to pull both sides of the basket inward a very small amount so that they would be square and that mounting holes would line up. 3. The included fasteners are metric (duly noted on the instruction sheet that they may be). The bolt and nut sizes on the instructions are approximations. Metric wrenches and sockets will be needed unless you want to just use crescent wrenches (eeeeww). Recommendations to the manufacturer: 1. I believe they should add two more support bars underneath the lower basket mesh. This would make me feel more confident that the mesh would support heavier loads (full disclosure – I haven’t hauled anything like full five-gallon fuel cans, buckets of liquid, etc. Just tree limbs and debris, axes, tools, etc., which can get moderately heavy. No signs of the rack bottom giving way with any of my loads so far). 2. Be a little more careful making sure that holes line up on the basket and support rack, and make sure the side rails of the basket and support rack are squared with the main rack areas. Mounting Alternative I used: I used quick release pins and cables/lanyards (to keep them from getting lost when not inserted) to secure the basket to the support rack. There are two main reasons why this is important to me: 1. I need to be able to remove the basket so that I can hook various trailers to my ATV. The basket will interfere with some of them (e.g. my tow-behind spreader). 2. I would much rather remove the basket when it’s full of limbs, twigs, debris, etc., turn it over, and dump everything out, rather than remove said material from the basket by hand little by little until it’s empty. If you don’t need that, the included bolts and lock nuts will work just fine. Overall, I believe the quality and value of this item set it apart from every other offering I’ve found. “I paid 350 dollars at the Honda shop before I knew about this rack..same quality..basically the same rack..I feel like I got screwed and I did..shame on Honda and tks Titan for a great product and a fair price”
