“This is the longest bra I've ever seen--the band hits halfway down to my belly button. If I adjust the straps so that the band is actually under my boobs, the top comes up almost to my collarbone and is so high it digs into my armpits. Perhaps this is a great fit for women with much larger boobs than me, or who are much taller than me (I'm 5'1, B cup). The quality is fine, comparable to other Tomboyx products, I've just...never seen a stranger cut.”
“These bralettes are fantastic! I'd been eyeing them for over a year, but wasn't sure about sizing and the fact that they didn't have the option to put a light pad in there for coverage- having everyone know I'm cold is super awkward. Then the pandemic happened and since I've been working from home I thought this was the best time to give them a shot. I LOVE them- so comfortable, gives me a little bit of support, and they are great for the heat. Yes- my nips are visible if I get cold, so I choose my tops carefully when I am leaving the house, but I still would buy them again. Finding this type of bralette for large busts is really difficult- the straps are always thicker or there is a clasp for the larger sizes, so it feels like I hit the jackpot. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is for sizing- read on for some guidance in that department and then order some.
So- about sizing- giving you LOTS of details b/c it is definitely a guessing game. I wear a 38F/40DDD depending on brand and style. Based on underbust measurement (39.5"), I'm XL/2X, but bust measurement put me in 4X (52"). I already had the Essentials Soft Bra in 2X, and the band is comfortable, but it is a little snug in the bust- think low-impact sports bra snug- but still comfortable. After reading tons of reviews (all over the map) and guidance from a lovely CX Lead (shout out to Michal!), I ordered the 3X to accommodate the bust measurement and the band was definitely too big and it was too long for me. I exchanged for a 2X and ordered an XL in a print and they were MUCH better! The 2X could be a bit smaller in the band, but it fits well everywhere else. It covers more of my body than I expected and I need to tighten the straps all the way, but this is pretty common for me- from my shoulder to my boobs is kind of short if that makes any sense. The XL fits well- underbust is great and and it's comfortably supportive in the bust with the right amount of coverage everywhere (i.e. nothing is at risk of falling out). That said, when I order again, I'll get the XL- it's comfy now and will still fit well if the pandemic pounds are ever shed- LOL! The bottom line on sizing is this- the fabric is stretchy, giving you some flexibility in the bust, so it's probably better to go with your band size. The rest is a matter of personal preference on how you want your bralette to fit and how you are built.”
