“I love the idea of these. Last time I used them, I found that the placement of the floating gusset/leak protection did not work super well for me. I needed protection in a more forward placement for my lighter days when forgoing other feminine hygiene products. I also don't love the 4.5 inseam for my body and they ride up. Plus I have fully switched over to 6" inseam and that is my perfect underwear sweet spot! A good first start!”
“I really like this pair and the fit is great compared to other similar underwear i’ve had. Watch out though because the fit and size have changed through washing and even just air drying. I would make sure these never end up in the dryer.”
“The padding is comfortable and can hold a lot. The only issue is the position. The pad is just too far back for me so there's always a little leakage.”
“I no longer get periods due to a hysterectomy, but do struggle with mild incontinence and require using pads. These work really well with my luna pads and I am happy I can still wear my favorite Tomboyx underwear. I hope you make these in more colors! The leak proof protection without using luna pads probably wouldn't work for my situation as it wouldn't absorb enough, but I am still very happy with the fact my pads stay in place and don't slide around and these are very comfortable.”
“I was incredibly happy when these came out and immediately purchased a few pairs. Now that I've gone through my first cycle with them, I can endorse them with a few caveats.
- True to size for other TomboyX products
- Floating gusset fits my existing fabric pads perfectly, though it doesn't hold them as close to the body as a pair of bikini/brief underwear
- I was initially concerned by the gusset's placement, as it felt a bit far back. I haven't worn them solo without a pad, though fit might be different for others
- I usually by the 6" boxer briefs, and wasn't quite as fond of the shorter 4.5" inseam, which seemed slightly more likely to ride up.
Overall, I'm pleased. I purchased these with the intent of wearing with fabric pads, and that's worked perfectly. It's not bulky at all, though the gusset sits in a slightly odd place. I can't say I recommend for solo wear, but if you have similar habits to the ones I've listed, it might be a good choice. As a transmasc person, I'm happy with them.”
“So I’m returning these and not repurchasing because the medium seem a little loose (in the crotch) but I’m fairly certain the small would give me serious muffin top. Furthermore, I just don’t feel the style is for me. I’m giving them 4 stars though for the concept of the floating gusset. I wish this were an option in the boy shorts as I feel those flatter me better. I deal with what we suspect is hidradenitis suppurativa (frequent boils in my groin region) so a surgical consult lead to the suggestion of wearing an underwear style where the seams wouldn’t hit directly in the folds of my groin (I am of average size and this is not a condition that is exclusive to bigger people if that’s a wonder). As someone who also prefers to wear a liner daily, I had invested in reusable cloth liners with wings and was concerned about how to use them with a short or trunk style. When I saw the bit about the floating gusset I was so excited that I might have found exactly what I was looking for. I really loved them and wish they flattered me better. I really hope they consider adding this feature to the other styles.
I wish they packaging were more eco friendly. The amount of plastic is truly disheartening.”
