QU10060 Cast Iron 1994-2005 Dodge NV4500 4x4 Rear Housing QU10060 is a new production, accurately machined, Cast Iron replacement 4x4 Tailshaft housing for all 1994-2005 Dodge NV4500LD and 1994-2004 NV4500HD 4x4 transmissions. Recommended for applications using over stock horsepower and torque ratings. Side lugs are drilled and tapped for mounting 1994-1997 Transfer Case Shift Lever assemblies. New Production Product Lubricants, Sealants, Threadlockers Special Tools Conversion Applications Matching Parts Applications
Tech Note 1: Bolt Pattern QU10060 replaces several 1994-2005 NVG Dodge 4x4 rear housings. The bolt pattern on the front is the universal NV4500 8 bolt main case to rear housing pattern. The rear 6 Bolt Round Bolt Pattern is the same as used on all Dodge 4x4s from 1980-2012. QU10057 is machined to accept QU10123 Transmission Rear Output Seal. The mounting foot for the transmission mount is drilled and tapped for 7/16" USS bolts. There are two mounting lugs on the left side for the transmission mounted transfer case shifter used on 1994-1997 Dodge 4x4s.
Tech Note 2: New Production Product QU10060 is a new production, accurately machined replacement rear housing for 1994-2005 Dodge 4x4 NV4500 transmissions and it was added to our line in early 2017. Prior to that date, we had quit selling cast iron NV4500 tailhousings due to poor machining accuracy of every single one of these we had checked from the three companies importing these type of housings starting in 2006. (See Tech Article). Production lots of the new, QU10060 housings are batch checked for accuracy and only those lots that pass inspection are sold by us.
Tech Note 3: Lubricants, Sealants, ThreadlockersEarly production NV4500 Transmissions used an anaerobic sealant (QU90003) to seal between the main case and input bearing retainer, top cover, and rear housing. Mid-production units used anaerobic sealant just on the input retainer and RTV for everything else. Later production transmissions used black RTV Sealant (QU90006 or QU90005) for everything. Either type of sealant works fine (except the PTO covers ALWAYS should be sealed with RTV), but I prefer RTV for all components. Regardless of which sealant you use, make sure excess sealant does not block the lube access hole at the top of input retainer pilot that fits into the transmission case! Also, the threaded holes in the main case for the four retainer bolts and 12 PTO bolts are open ended, so you must use new bolts with factory applied threadlocker or apply Threadlocker (S24200) to your existing bolts to prevent oil seepage past the bolt threads.
