What do you do with these cute MONSTER balls? Anything that helps learners remember what they learned! TINY MONSTER FIDGET TOYS! Give a monster to each learner at the start of training as a fidget toy. They're wonderfully squeezable and provide mindless fun for learners who need to do something with their hands while listening or working. MNEMONICS, CHUNKING, AND MEMORY Then, at the end of your training event, repurpose the monsters for a fun processing and learning reinforcement activity. Ask participants to find the perfect mnemonic name for their monster -- a name that represents the key learning points that they hope to remember, long after your training session has ended. For instance:
SUE: State, Understand, Explain PETE: Patience, Energy, Try again, Excellence GIMPO: Goals, Impressions, Money, Productivity, Objectives NIBOT: Never Issue Both Orders Together
The magic of mnemonics is that the help our brains bundle information. Because most people remember only 4-7 bits of information in their working memory at one time, chunking information into bundles allows us to hold onto more learning. Furthermore a fun name can increase our emotional connection to the learning event, making it more likely to be stored in long-term memory. BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY For super long-term retention, imagine your monster and it's name posted to a huge jumbo-tron at your favorite footbool stadium, or perhaps in the lights in Times Square. The bigger and more distinctive the image, the more likely you are to remember. Sold as a set of 4.  Each ball diameter is 2.25".

Unfortunately, the colors on the faces are of poor quality and there is very little bounce-back when the ball is used as a squeezable stress ball. Plus, Oriental Trading is imprinted on the bottom of the balls which isn't something that we would ever want.

Everyone thought these were really cute. These were distributed to a team going through a systems conversion as stress relievers. Everyone said they came in very handy!

I used these as a free give-away at a seminar. Attendees had the choice of monster squeeze balls, wire monsters and bouncing clay. Generally those who chose the squeeze balls seemed to be less busy with their hands than those who chose the other two, but would unwrap their monster and set it where they could see it. It was the second most popular item behind the clay. From my perspective it was the best value in that the cost was closer to what I wanted to spend for a free give-away and attendees still enjoyed it.

Great value to give to kids for stress control. Small enough for kids to keep in pockets but big enough for a good squeeze!

I used these as part of a final exam...having each student "name" their monster with the letters of the names standing for the key lessons from the class. Stretched their thinking, got everyone engaged, lots of laughter while actually re-enforcing learning!! They took them home and have been continuing to "name" them which keeps them reflecting on lessons long after class!!!
