I have been a sped teacher for going on 11 years. When I signed up for the program it was because it was advertised to educators to offer financial support and education about first time home buying. From the start the communication was inconsistent with the loan officer I was assigned. The few times we spoke on the phone I felt belittled by phrases like "this is what we always do" and "just sign so we can move the process along". The portal automatically sends emails from the loan officer despite not being the correct person to ask questions for better understanding - which makes no sense. Why would the person whose name is the sender on the automated email not be the person to answer questions about the information in the email. Seems like a flaw that is easily fixable. When I asked unprompted questions via email and text I got redirected most of the time. The biggest issue came after weeks of communicating verbally and in writing the amount that I could afford to bring to the table I was floored the day before closing that I was responsible for brining $7000 more to closing than I was able to afford. It all worked out but the process became stressful the day before closing because of a few phone calls that went unanswered and a big misunderstanding on the cost of rates. I felt taken advantage of and as if no one aimed to help educate me in this process. I learned an expensive lesson by trusting a person who asked me to trust him when I shouldn't have. I made the mistake of believing this process would be made easier for teachers. I'm left with a $7,060 bill that puts a cloud over this purchase which should have been a celebratory one. I do not recommend this lender or loan officer for first time home buyers. I learned a lot the hard way even despite researching buying real estate for a year prior to applying for pre-qual with three lenders.

Joshua was with us every step of the way, no matter what question(s) we had, and no matter how many times we asked them. He broke everything down for us so we understood what we were doing, and brought comfort to us when we were unsure of what was going on. Whenever we put a bid on a house, Joshua was there. Whenever we lost out on a bid, he was also there to give us his condolences and uplift us to keep searching. Joshua was a very personable guy (a fellow nerd!) and was available via text practically 24/7. Thank you for everything you did for us, Joshua!
